  • Coffee maker recommendations?

Our old faithful Braun just seized up. We need a new automatic drip coffeemaker, stainless finish with clear carafe (not thermal). Any recommendations would be appreciated.

See if you can get a free one from Gevalia.
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

    “You shouldn't wear that body.”

We replaced our more expensive Braun with a Mr. Coffee and have been very pleased. We do prefer the thermal carafe. It really works to keep the coffee hot for hours (a good thing when the DH gets up long before I do).

We had two more expensive coffee makers and have actually preferred our $50 Mr. Coffee.

Try this website for more information than you will ever want to know about coffee makers and espresso machines:

Go and join Gevalia, they have a nice Stainless Steel carafe that you can get for ten bucks with coffee . After you receive it , cancel the club after you get it. The value is over $100 and it is a really nice coffee maker.

We have always had good luck with the Cuisinart Coffee Makers. They can be a little spendy though.

I will check out the Gevalia. But I don't mind "spendy" in this case, our Braun lasted 12 years. added: Frank, thanks for the link. The coffeemaker looks perfect, it is the only one I have seen that comes white with stainless, which will work well. So I joined and ordered it. Only problem is that it takes 4 to 6 weeks, and my Braun is dead now....

Oh you have NO IDEA. We are pulling the old one off the curb to see if JR can fix it. I bought a Krups today at Bed Bath and Beyond but it is kind of big and ugly so it's going back. I guess we can go to Dunkin Donuts tomorrow, and then I can get by on those coffee singles for a while.... but I will surely miss my Organic Fair Traded Guatemalan HueHueTenango....

That sounds like one very serious cup of coffee.....

Maybe it pays to run to BJ's and pick up a cheap coffee pot...you can always keep it in the basement as a spare.

I feel for you....I am also a Coffee fanatic.....

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

I bought a great stainless Cuisinart at SAM'S a couple of years ago.

When I ordered from Gevalia in January, the coffeemaker and coffee came in just a few days. Maybe yours will too.

                          Angela,

It is an amazing cup of coffee, cup after cup... I can only get it from a guy on ebay. I first tasted it on my way home from the Berkshires last summer, and the place doesn't ship, so I had to hunt for it. Nothing has tasted as good to me since, plus I have the added problem of having become educated about "fair traded" coffee. So it's HueHueTenango (pronounced WayWayTenango, or WayWay for short) for me....

OH I SURE HOPE SO, otherwise I might have to take Angela's advice and tackle BJ's (or even worse, Price Club), and I don't think I have any sedatives around the house... though without all my coffee maybe I won't need any...
I am also looking at a DeLonghi online....
