  • I just paid $2.989/gal unleaded regular

I recently became a food shopper at Stop & Shop. They have a points program which I really haven't worked out yet. Sometimes it's frozen food promotions, at others it's buy a certain quantity of a label name, etc. I really don't pay much attention to it and just shop as I need.

For every 100 points you collect you get .10 off a gallon of gas at the one location they have up here in NY that has a gas station.

The cashier the other day pointed out that I had over 700 points and that they DO expire. Sure was a nice feeling to pay <$36 for 11.5 gallons of gas and keep nearly $8 in my pocket. I can't remember the last time gas was under $3 in NY.

I think I'll be shopping at Stop &Shop more often.

Do any of you have a store loyalty program like that near you?

You really should. You get 10 points for every $100 you spend and it's a running tally. The promos are just a way to collect faster.

Safeway runs similar promotions out here in Washington. A year or so ago I wound up getting some regular unleaded for about $0.50/gal discount.

Go on-line register and enter your card number. It tells you your points and when points will expire.

Another thing we'll do is take 2 cars and fill them up on the same card. Not sure if that's legal but they haven't stopped us yet. LOL

Frank, I keep mine on my key ring. Works out quite well. We have a Hemi Dodge Ram pickup truck with the world's biggest gas tank and a Honda Accord! Guess which one we use the gas points for.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

They've stopped the two car thing in Masssachusetts. So I would imagine NY is coming soon.

If you look at the circular (at least here) they have promotions where if you buy a cerain mix of items you get extra points. I usually make out with those too.

I'm watching my S&S points but have no idea when they expire. I did get $ 1.50 off per gallon with my Price Chopper card in December.

Tony, you need to register at the SnS web site. Points expire 30 days after earned.
