There won't be a third time.

Over the years I've made a few purchases from Woot but nothing, when buying anything electronic I'm finding it's a crap shoot. A fan I bought worked for all of about 13 seconds. When I e-mailed Woot about it, they told me to send it to the company, they don't handle returns.

This past week I purchased an AT&T phone system. This was the second burn as it doesn't work.

The problem is, it's not worth sending the products back as the shipping runs the cost up to about what I'd pay retail for the product.........without the hassle.

I think I'm done Wooting when it comes to anything electronic or has a motor in it. It's better to just go down to the store and pick it up. At least at the local stores, if I have a problem, they make good on it.

I purchased a refurbished ipod from woot several yrs ago and it still works fine. I use it every morning while I walk on my treadmill.

Can't remember if I purchased anything else from them.

I've mostly had good luck with Woot. I have bought at least 50 items through Woot, but most were not electronics. One of my refurbished Sansa MP3 players lost a channel of audio after a few months of use, but that's a known problem with Sansas. I think that's the only failure I've had, not counting Bag of Crap items.

What I find is more of a problem with Woot is the time it takes. I used to sit there during Woot-offs waiting for something good (like, a Bag of Crap!) to come on. I eventually got two Bags of Crap, and they were both, as the name implies, crap.

I still check Woot most days, but I won't keep checking back frequently during a Woot-off.

We've had good luck with Woot purchases. Bought a 46 inch Philips tv and added a 2 year Square Trade warranty. It continues to work very well. We also bought a Sansa MP3 player, which also continues without a problem. We've bought a couple of other deals over the years and had good luck with all. I never take a chance on the BOC though.

They have to sell enough stuff that works in order to stay in business. For me, I'm finished taking chances. When you buy it from Woot, you own it, even if it doesn't work. Fortunately the total value of wasted money has been ~$45. I'm very glad I haven't ever purchased anything that cost a couple of hundred dollars.

The fact that woot doesn't stand behind what it sells has become the deal breaker for us. I just don't see the need to take a chance, even if it is cheap.

I agree with you. It's not cheap enough for the frustration. For big-ticket items like a TV set, I'd rather spend a little more and get the item at Costco or another company with a great return policy.

That said, what I get at Woot is usually little stuff like a super-cheap refurb DVD player for about $20 shipped. We got three of them and one lasted about a year, and the other two are still churning away about three years later. We also got a couple of inexpensive DVD/VCR combos that we couldn't find anywhere else other than eBay, because we still have a bunch of videos, and they're also still working.

So I find that Woot is decent for somewhat over-the-hill tech that you have to grab if you want it. If they had a Discman for my husband's evening dog walks, I would get three!

After reading these postings I guess the first idea that comes to mind is you get what you pay for!

Over time I have read on this forum about woot and still have no idea what it means but guessing it is some kind of on-line store.
I still like to walk in and check out what I want if there is a problem I just take it back.

It is worth more money for this if it really does cost more!

I have gotten a few things from Woot and they have all worked. One (a sort of steam mop before the new ones came out) I didn't like and I was stuck with it. I just received a $20 blue tooth which came with a $20 rebate, so all I paid was the $5 shipping. It works fine. I don't think I would buy big ticket items, however. I would like to bring something back if it's not "me".

It's easy to have good CS when there's nothing really wrong. After two defective purchases, I don't think I'll buy anymore electronics from Woot. Fortunately, neither was very expensive but, it does create extra garbage that has to be thrown out. There's also the disappointment of getting something new that doesn't work and can't be easily returned.
