My daughter just participated in her first Special Olympics. She was born with a rare genetic disorder called Trisomy 18 also known as Edwards Syndrome. She happens to be mosaic which is even rarer (4 in 500,000) Most children who are born with Trisomy 18 die within the first 2 weeks and 90% by age 1. We are so blessed that she just turned 8 in February. She was almost 5 before she walked by herself. Please enjoy the video as you watch her run in her own special way.

What a wonderful video. It moved me to tears. You must be so proud!! It also brought back vivid memories of when Kell brought home 2gold medals for swimming. She was in the paper , titled tears of joy.

Thank God for your precious little girl and my Kelli.

    Hugs, Shaggy

That was beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing.

I had the privilege of volunteering for the Northern California Special Olympics a few years ago. The participants are so inspiring. They are all winners.

Thanks for the PM and posting the video.
It is hard to believe that Caroline is 8 - wow, where did the time go.
She has certainly made progress and she is truly blessed to have such wonderful parents.

Your beautiful daughter, Caroline, looked so happy and the pride she showed as she held her medals was so vivible on her face. I'm sure you are also very proud of her.

By the way, the song made me cry thru the whole video. What loving parents you are.

Thanks for the video and sharing Caroline's joy with us. The music you chose indicates how special she is to you. She's lucky to have you as a parent and you are lucky to have her as a daughter. Or maybe it wasn't luck, but a special plan...
