  • Pizza flyer scams at timeshares and hotels

I've seen these slipped under my door at many timeshares. Never ordered but if you are tempted be aware of who is legit and who is trying to get your cc number.

Unfortunately this has been going on for a while.
    It's really bad in Orlando.

Here's a lively thread we had going over on my DVC forum in case you want to read a little about it.

Beware of the pizza delivery scam at DVC. - The DVC Boards at MouseOwners.com - the place to talk DVC and Walt Disney World

True that the vast majority are terrible - but there are a few bright spots like Giordano's and Anthony's Coal Fired - but you have to search them out. Of course a Flippers or Cici's (for the real bargain minded) are better than pizza Hut or most of the other chains but that is true nearly anywhere you go.

          This is so true.
Nothing like that New york pizza. You're so lucky.
Luckily near me there's a transplanted New York pizzeria. Best in town.

My first food stop in NYC, and just around the corner from the MC, is Athonio's Brick Oven Pizza. Doesn't need a single topping - the tomato and cheese is to die for. Now you've made me hungry again!

We had pizza flyers left in our room at AKL in February. If the resort is aware of this problem, they should mention it when guests are checking in.

I didn't order any pizza, but my credit card number did get lifted on that trip. I didn't think that it was from the front desk, but now that I am reading that they know about the pizza scam and didn't say anything, I am thinking maybe it was the DVC resort.

Since I started that thread on Mouseowners, Disney has since started putting flyers by the phone that warn about this scam. I saw it at OKW and also BWV when I was there in Feb. They don't make a point to tell you so if you don't see the little flyer warning you, you won't know.

They slipped one under our door at BLT when we were at WDW in early May. Took the flier down to the front desk so they knew about it, and the guy said "You mean a flier like this ?" and held up the same thing I brought down. They said that they try to stop them from getting in to put these under the doors, but somehow the people keep sneaking in.

Needless to say we didn't order, and obviously I'm biased being a lifelong Chicagoan, but I'll take deep dish Chicago-style pizza over that flimsy stuff in NY

You like Chicago better than New York?

Back to the topic, I can't believe they're even getting into BLT. I guess no hotel is safe. So much for all this security crap.

My guess for them getting into BLT is that they follow people going from the Contemporary over to BLT via the walkway. You don't need a key or anything else to get into the Contemporary lobby (guessing you only need to tell the guard at the gate you're going for shopping or dining at the Contemporary), but it takes a room key to get in any door at BLT. Most of the time people hold the door for the people walking a few feet behind them on the walkway, and I suspect this is how they get access.
