  • I Just Can't Get Away From It . . .

    Timesharing and Iowa, that is.

Yesterday Jenny and I went the the Branson Corvette Show to sell soft frozen lemonade. Like the mule that ran in the Kentucky Derby, we figured the association would do our POC Ford van good.

The boss man had us set up right beside the red '65 Stingray fastback coupe, the one I always wanted (actually I sorta wanted a '63, 327/350). This one was one of the few original 396's, but that had been replaced with some sort of 500-plus horsepower behemoth.

We sat there all day and didn't talk to the couple that owned until it was about time to leave.

It turns out they live at Lake of the Ozarks. They are from Des Moines originally, where he owned the Corvette shop in Valley Junction in West Des Moines. She grew up not far from where I grew up in Urbandale and graduated from Moo U about the same time. We had tons of things in common, except for the Corvette.

Hey Tony, he even knew Dolph Pulliam!

And, right across from us, BlueGreen Resorts had a family (husband, wife and two infants) conducting a drawing giving away a vacation and a 1-in-3 million chance of winning $60000.

To top the day off we came home and went down to our private dock to swim off our private swim deck. Did I mention it is private?

We had a Bud Light and a burger, then went back down and sat on the swim deck and gawked at the full moon over the water.

    Not a bad day.
