I should be pretty safe with this one, as I'm well juiced at the current time.

Well Juiced? Hmmm. At this time of the morning? Just kidding.

I will keep watching, but since the DW drinks more than I do (am allowed to) I probably won't spend much. I don't want to support her enjoyment of what I can't have.

Pardon my ignorance... I know what woot is but what is a woot-off?

Been very easy for me to stay on the sidelines this wootoff.

That is frustrating. I had written up a response and posted, but it didn't post. Sure it was my fault, but frustrating anyway.

Where Woot is normally a 1 deal a day, a Wootoff is a multiple item deal with sometimes some good stuff, sometimes not. The highlight is the 'bag of crap' or what Woot calls it 'crappy'. Everyone tries to get that.

Wine Wootoff is kind of the same thing, multiple bottles or items on the list.

Speaking of Wine Woot-I picked up the case of California Karma 2009 Cab and Chard mixed case. I figure for less that $9 a bottle, I could pick up some for those 'non-special' occasions.

Every once in awhile woot.com runs a sale where they put up item after item at reduced rates and keep that item up until it sells out. This is instead of their one-item-a-day format. They keep a running bar that tells you when the item is almost sold out, and people check in and out all day long. Ehen an item sells out, they move on to the next one. Once each woot-off they offer a "bag of crap" which is a bag of random stuff, with the possibility of scoring something really good for $1 or $3. When the BOC comes on, the site usually crashes. Everyone wants to get one, and it is a coup if you do.

After getting caseloads of Pear Vallley syrah, the Kaleidoscope white, the Truchard tempranillos, and the Pedrocelli dry zin and SB I'm in pretty good shape.

I just about put in an order on the Enkidy sangio that was on WTSO a couple of days ago. That's a very nice less-than-$10 buy. But I couldn't see putting in an order and paying for it now, then having them hold shipping until mid-October (when it would be safe to ship across country without cooking the wine in transit).

Shoot. I didn't think about that.
We have 90 deg or hotter forecast for the next week. I don't know how long before it cools down for shipping.

I am skipping our wine club picnic on Sunday, 98 deg with heat index of 105. Nope, not me. I am staying home under the AC vent.

Woot charges $2 more for summer shipping, but then they ship using refrigerated FedEx trucks. So the only leg you have to worry about is the local delivery step - from the local distribution center to your door.

WTSO says they try to time the shipments to match weather windows, but with a week in transit from NJ to the west coast, I remain quite leery. WTSO does have a feature where you can ask them to ship on a specific day within the next three months. Mostly that's there so that you can avoid having a shipment arrive sometime when you know you're going to be out of town. But in August and September I've used it on occasion to delay shipping to a cooler month.

Oh, another tip off that it may happen; Frank would be away. That seems to be the sign lately. When Frank has computer problems or is away, we have a wootoff.
