  • What is the most exciting (legal) thing you've ever done?

For me it was 1977 and it was driving a racing car at Riverside Raceway in Ca.

175 MPH is exhilarating to be sure.

Did it several times - then blew up the cars engine and moved on.

When I turned 40 I went whitewater rafting down the Gauley in W VA. It scared the bejeezers out of me. They open it up for 10 days only. shaggy

That's a pretty good one - I've never twisted my tail enough to jump out of a perfectly good airplane. yikes

                Sweet,

My friend is a pilot and keeps saying that he is going to do one of these when he takes me up. Far cry from an F15 though.

I would have to say so far it would be WWR on the Ottawa River this year.

Cool - do you know what type of whales they were?

Did you have a guide - or did you just wing it?

Went fishing and fought a yellow fin tuna for about 40mins was more than 200lbs (the tuna not me) when i got it close to the boat we couldnt get it up on deck so the captn said someone will have to jump and tie a line around the tale so we can pull from both ends, so I did the tuna was flipin and flapin all over, dont know how but i got the line around as Im climbing back to the boat I saw all my friends faces go pale and one of them grabed my hand pulled me up in the boat , I look back and there was a shark fin about 5ft from us... I guess that's mine

                              About Petting Whales

Scammon's Lagoon is half way to Cabo. It is where well over 90% of the grey whales on the planet were born. Mother whales, grandmother whales, and baby whales are all there starting in January. February is the height of the season. Depending on how late you go, the moms are making the babies swim against the current to the mouth of the lagoon twice a day to get them strong enough for the trip to Alaska. Sometimes the babies are so tired they get a ride on mom for the trip back to the part of the lagoon where they spend most of their time. Some mothers, for unknown reasons, are very pleased to introduce their offspring to humans and do so by swimming up to the boats and allowing themselves and their babies to be petted. Our last trip was in February of this year. We had one mother and her baby who chose to stay with us for well over 30 minutes. Those huge animals came right up beside our 12 person boat (really just a fishing boat with an outboard motor) to be petted and take a look at us. Then they would dive under the boat and come right back. They didn't even rock the boat; they could have destroyed the boat with a tail flick. They stayed and stayed, and when we left the area, they came with us most of the way back to the dock.

THE way to do it is to spend the night in Guerro Negro, and then the next day drive out to the Mexican national park and go out in a panga with a driver. It is an incredible experience. If you hire some of the commercial tours, it isn't the same at all. You'll still see whales, but the commercial tours aren't allowed into the part of the lagoon where the mothers and babies hang out. There's a part of the lagoon where the pangas can't go, and the whales know--they gently push any boat back out if it enters their "private" area.

I was lucky enough to meet, on line, the woman who wrote the regulations that protect the whales at Scammon's Lagoon, and our first trip there was with her. We, of course, learned things about the whales we would never have known because we were with her, but this February we were with just another couple, and the experience we had was truly one to remember a life time.

If anyone wants to go, I'll be glad to provide recomendations and further information.
