  • just lost power

The hottest day of the year we got a meat delivery and then we lose power and to make it worse I have no internet and my cell needed. To be charged. No car charger so I have to get one in the morning. It is going to be one sweat house tonight

Wow I just watched an article on CBS news about how ConEd was ready for this .... well maybe not so much.

Best of luck Frank - I am thinking about a fire tonight here in Spokane. I'll think about you and remember some of the hot hot summers I spent in NY.

Just came back on. I am going to fill in as many frezer packs that I can fit in the frezer. In case this happens again . At least it might buy me a few extra hours if it goes down again

I was told a long time ago that a freezer works best when it's full. I take my empty plastic milk and juice jugs and rinse them out really well. Then I fill them with water and put them in the freezer. We don't lose power that often, but when we do, the extra blocks of ice will keep the food frozen, or at least cold for a much longer time. If I need room in the freezer, I just take out a few of the frozen jugs. I rarely buy bottled water, but when I do I save and freeze those also. The frozen water bottles are especially good for packing a cooler. They stay colder a lot longer than ice packs and don't take up that much room. Plus, I have a nice cold bottle of water when it melts.
Glad to hear your power is back on. It's hot here in PA too. We hit 100 yesterday and will easily reach that today and probably tomorrow too!

Hope it stays on for you Frank - today is definitely not the day to lose it.
            Good luck.

Sounds like something Mrs. Frank might say.

This power outage could have been worse. It was only 4 hours but in that 4 hours my house temp went from 72 to 87.

It is hotter than H here in the south. You walk out of the house and it feels like you've walked into a furnace. It's even hard to breath. Take it easy.

Hope the power holds up for you. I've been running the air for the last 3 days straight.

                      Ha!

Having grown up without electricity or indoor plumbing I have no sympathy (had to join the military to get a shower).

Transformer blew it affected only 45 homes. They r splicing into another transformer as a quick fix until they can get a new transformer but we still are not getting the correct voltage so the AC and refrigerators are not working right and they can get damaged from using low power
