  • Profitable R&R trip thanks to 2 Royals.

My wife and I just got back from 3 days at the Agua Caliente Casino resort in Rancho Mirage, California. For those that don't know, casino gaming is my hobby having been to 150+ casinos around the country, Canada, and even the Panama.

Agua Caliente is our favorite place to go. They comp us for our suite, food etc. as do many other casinos but we just like it there better. We go every month or so.

The reason I posted is I won Royal Flushes on the same $1 Video Poker Machine 2 nights in a row. Each Royal was $4,000. Winning a Royal is not easy but winning in 2 consecutive nights on the same machine is pretty rare. The first one was dealt to me. In all of the 70+ Royals that I have won over the years, I had never had one dealt to me. On the second Royal, I held the 10 and Jack of clubs. That was my lucky night because after winning the Royal, I won another $1,800 on a penny slot machine. Needless to say, we came out a way ahead plus had a great stay and some good food.

If only all our trips were like that.

Hey, good for you!! It sure doesn't get old when you get a Royal. I have only had a few, and my initial reaction was disbelief, shock, then excitment!

Congratulations! It is always so good to come out a winner. Heck, I feel great if I just break even! We will be off to LV again in October, and hopefully will have some good luck on the slots.

We used to go to Las Vegas all the time but don't anymore unless we are invited to a super event. We stay at either Caesar's or the Paris on the strip as they invite us but the best casino/hotel deal is The South Point where we also stay. However we far prefer the California Casino/resorts.

We will be at the Grandview, right next door. We stayed there last time, as we had friends with us, and the 2-bedroom lock-offs are great. We quite like the Southpoint. I'm usually finished gambling before DH, so I can walk back to the Grandview and swim or watch TV without having to wait around.

That's great to win like that. Going to Calif in the Fall. Which casinos, if any, would you recommend near Carlsbad & Palm Springs?

There are no casinos near Carlsbad. However, there are several in San Diego County and Riverside County. The closest one to Carlsbad is probably Valley View which is in Valley Center east of Escondido. It and Barona ( near Lakeside ) are arguably the 2 best in San Diego County. We have been to every casino in Southern California as well as many in Northern California.

                  San Diego County Casinos:

Valley View - Valley View Casino & Hotel ? Free Lobster Buffet - Certified Loose Slots
Barona Valley Ranch Resort and Casino - San Diego Casino - Poker, Blackjack, Slots and more at Barona Resort & Casino
                  Viejas - Viejas Club 250
Sycuan - San Diego Casino ? Sycuan Casino ? San Diego?s Daycation Getaway! - Home
Harrah's Rincon Casino and Resort - Harrah's - Hotels, Resorts and Casinos
Pala Casino Resort and Spa - So Many Ways to Win | Pala Casino

                  Temecula:

Pechanga Resort & Casino - Pechanga Resort & Casino > Home

                  Palm Springs Area Casinos:

Spa Resort Casino - Spa Resort Casino - Palm Springs
Agua Caiiente - Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa - Rancho Mirage and Palm Springs
                  Morongo - www.casinomorongo.com
Fantasy Springs - Palm Springs Premier Hotel Resort Casino ? Fantasy Springs Resort Casino
                  Spotlight 29 Casino - Spotlight 29 Casino

I have just listed the major ones. There are several smaller ones. These are all complete large casino resorts with several restaurants, entertainment, etc. Pechanga in Temecula is the largest ( much larger than any casino in Las Vegas ). Morongo has a very large ( 190+ stores ) outlet shopping center.

The Spa and Agua Caliente are sister casinos owned by the same tribe and you can use your player's card in either one.

The Spa is very nice and is located right in downtown Palm Springs. Agua Caliente is larger and very nice and is located in Rancho Mirage at I-10 at the Ramon exit. These are our 2 favorites.

Valley View is one of the favorites and has a great all you can eat lobster buffet every day. You will get a free lobster buffet just for signing up for the player's card. It is a good idea to always sign up for the player's cards as all the casinos will give you something like free slot play etc.
