I thought that Ken and Frank made it quite clear recently that they did not want people to come here and bash TUG. Did I misunderstand something?

Isn't that exactly what this thread is doing? There are good reasons for Jim's "vacation". This is not the place to discuss nor to debate them, however.

Indeed, the only reason for this thread is to stir up the latent "anti TUG" sentiment that exists among some on this board. Is that really what TS4MS is all about?

First off let me apologize for not being around and missing some time here. I have had a dead line to meet that must be done by this weekend or I will lose a lot money(not as bad as what I lost in the market of course).

Steve your post was post #3 and titled Tug Bashing again. I am sorry but I have to be honest here. I did not see any bashing going on with the 2 posts above yours.

I do want to make this very clear. We welcome anyone here to post no matter who they are. We do try to be as free and open as we can. We try to not edit or delete posts but there are times that we have our hands tied and must do so(very rare). We do not want to or encourage Tug bashing and have moved posts out of the public's eye into other forums. We will allow conversations as long as no names are being slandered. As I have said before many of Tugs mods are friends and many of them help here. We want to coexist in a friendly way.

If you want to see Bashing , Look at Rci for an example. They get hammered here every day and that seems to be OK with every one on every site.

RCI bashing is my hobby!

I love TUG and want them to continue monitoring everyone but me. I have not seen TUG bashing here--ever.

I haven't received a warning for a while, though, so that is pretty good. I really do appreciate the passion that many owners have for their home resorts, including Vickie. It seems to me that many of them cannot see that there are other opinions and that their experiences are just different from mine. I enjoyed reminding Gary that his experience with OLCC cannot be the same as mine because he and I disagree on Vacation Village at Parkway, which he owns and complains about. I love VV and dislike OLCC; he loves OLCC and dislikes VV (though he owns).

I have a question for those of you who have stayed in an OLCC studio. Are they nice? I heard that they are very small and have few windows, if any. Gary said he would rather stay in an OLCC studio than one at VV. That cannot be a good comparison because the studios at VV have washer/dryer units, full-sized refrigerators, lots of counter space, dishes, a hot plate and microwave. There is no dishwasher, but what studio has a DW?

I just thought you could give me an idea of studio amenities at OLCC. Thanks in advance.

Ahh, Steve, I think you do a great job on TUG so maybe you should stick to moderating and reprimanding people over there instead of trying to enforce your TUG rules over here.

To clarify, I have absolutely nothing against TUG, but you slapping people's wrist over here and telling them that this forum is not the place to discuss it really steps over the line a tad wee bit.

Yes you did misunderstand something and that is ok......we can talk about most anything we want on timeshareforums without the heavy handedness shown on other sites. We can talk about TUG too for that matter....what is the big deal. Just because some of TUGS dirty laundry gets exposed does not mean TUG is being bashed.

You are welcome to your opinion and to participate.....the conversations are not normally one sided here on timeshareforums so be prepared for both sides of the story and for a response.

A Little More History

Again, not a criticism, but just a history lesson.

In June, 2004, things came to a head on TUG. A moderator resigned and a discussion of the reason ensued. Discussion of policy was restricted to the Features board and when that got heated, Bill Rogers shut it down for a month.

Like many things, my Filing Cabinet has a record of those days.

In hindsight, I have come to believe that there were false accusations on both sides, but some don't seem to be able to bury the hatchet. I also believe that the divide, the ill will, was precipitated two years previously, and my filing cabinet is also full of warm and cuddly emails from and to the same people.

Bill Rogers opened the Features Board back up with an edict. It said there will be no criticism of TUG administration and moderation in any form by any users anywhere, M/L, if the person doing the criticizing wished to be a tug customer and use the bbs. What they did and how they did it was not to be questioned anywhere.

The concept that was established was that a website is the sole property of it's owner and all of the users, paying or not, are guests. Like visiting a person in their home, you abide by their rules if you wish to stay. The concept is not that of s traditional business and customer, so amenities that we are accustomed to do not apply.

So, take it with a grain of salt.

But, like when I did not make the jump to tips with everyone else, I still hold out hope, even two years later, that TUG can again be the warm and cuddly place it once was.

Jenny sometimes calls me a bulldog and sometimes calls me one of those little yippy dogs that grabs you around the pants cuff and there's nothing you can do to shake them off. Those of you who know me, and have followed my trials and tribulations, know that I do not give up and go away. How many people send a 139-page study to RCI to document loss of trading power!

Someone from here sent me an email recently that said, "When fighting a bear, you don't quit when you get tired. You quit when the bear gets tired."

I like the comparison with criticism of RCI. I don't believe we criticize RCI, and other companies, just because we want to, or in hopes that they will get worse. I think we do it because we are concerned about how it is running it's affairs and we would like to see some changes made.

My Inside Guy has said that a company reflects it's ability to receive data and that as that increases so does the awareness of things that would not otherwise be brought to their (and everyone's) attention. In his comments, it is the Internet, and specifically Internet timeshare forums that facilitated that.

He also reminds us that as we speak, our audience is much greater than just those involved in the conversation. He says people who can make a difference see those discussions and they do make changes.

I would hope that our discussions are more than what some call bashing, that we conduct ourselves with the idea of facilitating positive change.

Let's fact it, without a place to discuss it, that would never happen, would it?

Attempts to mandate that by policy have only festered the split, IMO.

Unless all involved really believe in and appreciate each other, it will always be there.

In order to evoke real change, one that would last and unite, I believe we would have to discuss what divided us, and I am not sure any web-site is ready for that discussion. I certainly have an idea what caused it, and have the before, during, and after communication to demonstrate it.

In my case I can pinpoint one incident in February, 2004, that started it all, and I was not even involved in it, since I was in Lav Vegas when it happened, not on the BBS.

Prior to that I had five or six great years on TUG. We had discussions but we weren't disgusting.

If it did not change prejudices Over Yonder, how would it help here? You can't deny the strong ties between the two, by design. I don't believe things can be right here and wrong Over Yonder.

But, anyway, like my last OL thread here, this was meant to be about Vickie and the way she insults so many people, and how it appears that is condoned.

But I agree for now we have probably discussed it enough.
