  • Friends, Sorta

    Today's idle mind thought:

Really getting to know some people when they are pretending to be your friend, say for some benefit they derive, makes it easy when they quit pretending. And vice versa.

Sounds like you crossed another off the would be friend list.

Really? I don't have anything against Jim and would hope that he has nothing against me. Apparently my sense of humor did not come across in that post.

So who else have I crossed off the would be friend list? Would that include you?

You know what they say, can't please all of the people, all of the time.

              In order . . .

              I do.

              I didn't.

You misunderstood and got your panties in a bunch.

Yeah, that's the way I took it, cuz he didn't quote anyone.

No, unfortunately, but thinking about their false friendship prompted the thought.

Verbal can often be just as bad.

What I mean is that when they were pretending to be our friends, they did not try to hide how they really are, and how they really are is people we would never choose to be friends with. We were together only through the coincidence of location.

During that period it was very uncomfortable for us to socialize with them, which we did only to try to fit in.

So, when they turned on us, it was a relief in a way, lifting the burden of pretense.

On the other side of coin, be careful who you share your most private stuff with as there are very few you can trust with it.

I hear ya on that one!!! I NEVER share my private business {family matters with even my closest friends! } They can't wait to share the news with someone else. Before I retired I worked in an office of 55 to 60 women and the things they would repeat that their best friend had told them was appalling! I just filed it away as people can be so deceiving, and learned just discuss off the wall home life with your friends, especially your best friends. The people offering scandolous info. on their closest friends never realized what a low opinion I had of them {the talker}. And I NEVER repeated anything I was told. Life is always a learning experience.

Yup, that's pretty close to it. You never know when a friend du jour may turn on you, and use what you told them in confidence against you. Very few have the restraint to keep from passing stuff on. You can include family, maybe especially family, in that.

If someone acts shady to me, I just quit having anything to do with them on the spot. 6 billion people in the world - I am sure I can find someone else.

Which makes it pretty laughable when someone thinks they have something on you because they don't allow you to associate with them.
