  • Gold Jewelry

Back in the day I gave DW a gold coin ring with 30 little diamonds set around it, and a $20 Gold Coin pendant with a 14K Gold double-rope bezel. I don't know exactly what I paid for them, but knowing me, it couldn't have been more than a couple hundred dollars.

    Here's the same pendant now:

1993 American Gold Eagle 1 Oz. Coin, in 14 kt. Bezel | eBay

    Wow!

That sure beats buying timeshares at Poipu!

    Cha-Ching!

I started selling my gold and silver jewelry that I don't wear. I figure I will use the cash more than the jewelry.

There is of course one small caveat here. It has not actually been sold yet! Asking price, and whether it sells as we have all seen here are of course two different things. How many times was this listed? Why have they not auctioned it and set a little lower price if is truly this valuable? Interesting to see if it actually sells. We all know gold has gone up, but not sure myself if this is really as valuable is it is made out to be. Then again, I am not a gold dealer so WDIK!

The same ring is over $2000 at non-auction sites, but, yes, I watch the Pawn Stars.

"What is it you're looking to do, pawn it or sell it?"

"How much are you looking to get?"

        "Well, I heard $2500, so $2500."

(Laughing) "Well, ya, if you can find a buyer. If it's at auction, they take 30%. . . . So, I'll give ya $800."

        "Well . . . . . . . . . . . would ya go $805?"

          Here's a Buy site.

The coin in the 14k double-rope gold bezel, itself, is $1800.

            Oops, here it is:

Buying gold, silver and platinum coins - MJPM.COM is buying coins and paper money

We used to have a standing joke. I would say, "Whattya want, deeds or diamonds?"

She would always say, "Deeds," knowing real estate would always do better than trinkets like diamonds, gold, silver . . .

Keep a good eye on her when she wears it now. With the value of gold going up, you never know how daring the thieves will be.

Here is the current melt value of the coin:

                      1907-1933 Saint Gaudens Double Eagle $20.00 $1703.76

                      Add the bezel to that.

It's up to $2600 retail now. I put it on cl for $2200 last night, and got three replies overnight.

That would be six FL house payments.

If I could edit/delete, I would, but I have become more informed about my coin. It is actually a later-day version of the Pre-1933 coin I have been comparing it to.

It is called an American Eagle and is minted in various weights and denominations, but has the same design as the earlier coins, which are considered to be among the best-ever coin designs.

Mine is the 1/2 ounce variety, and more in the $1200 range.
