You say "Remember". I'm ignorant, not studied up. I don't understand what you are telling me.

We are only now using up the RCI exchanges available for use though 2011, from depositing at the end of year 2009.

We have 9 RCI exchanges available for use in 2012 from deposits made at the end of year 2010.

We have over 370k Wyndham points from this 2011 year, expiring the last day of 2011. So I need to do something with them.

May the RCI exchanged week (my OP) be cancelled and then extended?

I don't know anything about TPUs and such either, not studied up.

you could plan to blow a bunch of weeks at the next holiday season, end of 2012. You could book multiple units, assuming not a 1 in 4 place, and ask the family to join you.

I have thought of doing that right now, blowing the 371k points that are about to expire, the End of Year 2011. Should be able to find presidential suites for that. Problem is, so many of them work and odd shifts and early hours. Might work for over a weekend.

          Good thinking though. Thanks.

If your RCI deposit is from a week deposit instead of Wyndham generic deposit, RCI will assign it a TPU (trading power unit). When you do exchange, sometime you may end up need more TPU, sometimes you may end up saving some TPU. RCI will allows you to combine TPU together. The new combined TPU will be expired 2 years from the combine day. So it gives you a little bit flexibility.

If you do a lot of combination, you can joint RCI plantinum, which will saving a few extra, I believe if you do more than twice per year, it is much better deal.

But Wyndham generic deposit can not be combined, and I believe all the deposits you have are these.

Before the TPU and Wyndham generic deposit changes, I can cancel it, and extended it with the only consequence is lossing the exchange fee. Since we are talking about the deposit made before TPU change, I will assume it still work that way. The extension cost about $69 or something like that, and only good for 6 more month (you can extend 3 month I believe). But since there is a lot of RCI/Wyndham exchange changes and since the old deposit week should be very small potion, so I am not sure if the way they handle the trading power will still be the same. At this moment, I will guess it is the same.

I have not yet tried the new deposit system, I will expect they behavior the same as old system in cancel and extend.

I thought you will use some of them when you fix your house? Maybe have your kids get together at some resorts (like Virgina Beach or Myrtel Beach or Santee which you can use Wyndham's point for 3 B president, than after the holiday, you can drive back down to FL, it is about 6 hr drive from Daytona)?

At certain age, family gather together is great treasure, it will only get less, not more. So if you can not get resort work, I will just stay at home.

ps. Just did a quick check, look like Santee has no available at X'Mas, and at New Year, it only have regular 3 BD available, Internally, Wyndham still have Mytrl beach and Williamsburg, but not sure if it is President over the X mas Weekend 23 for 3 nights).

              Generic Points deposits

As far as I know we get 371k Wyndham point at first of year. We get no WEEK assignments. So I suppose they are what some refer to as "generic points".

In years passed, I have requested small increment point deposits (27 and 71k points).

This is the first time I've seen the NEW deposit form, where I must indicate the desired resort and amount of bedrooms. How does one make those decisions so far in advance?

If you go to RCI deposit, there are 2 buttons, the top one is "Search and Book on RCI" the bottom one is "request RCI deposit"

Request RCI deposit only based on the season and unit size. As you can see, it has up a few points. No longer 28k and 70k deposit.

You will have to make a reasonable guess when you will travel and how big the unit size you may need. You probably better assume the 3 BD at prime time is very rare to be seen in RCI.

                Good luck.

It maybe better to just credit pool the point. I believe you are VIP, so, you can wait till maybe 3 month into the use year to do that.

I don't think you're mean, but we insist on staying home (four states away from my parents) every other Christmas. We visit them for Christmas and usually New Years (which is their anniversary) even numbered years, because they were married in an even numbered year and that means we'll always be free for their Big Anniversary Dates (so far the fortieth and fiftieth). Maybe you could try alternating years, family and vacation?

The years we visit my parents, the kids don't get to participate in the Church events the week of Christmas -- they're in the choirs and sometimes there's a church pageant, too -- but they recognize they can't do both and that's fine. If the Nutcracker was closer to Christmas that'd be an agonizing choice (and we'd have to stay put or leave middle daughter behind now she's company), but happily that's usually the second weekend in December.

My parents keep doing this, "We know teenagers get tired of visiting grandma's; you don't have to come if the kids don't want to" routine, then I say, "The kids would love to come; it's a tradition, but we don't want to if it's too much for you" and they backtrack like crazy. So this year I told them we need to try all staying in a resort next time instead of them hosting family Christmas at their house; have to see how that works. May be interesting.

We will most likely forego the week and stay home. Anyone interested can contact me. Others have given to us so "what goes around..."

That is still 15 days away. Maybe the kids will push us into going.

I wished they would but would you two feel comfortable away from your famy since you are so close to each other? I wished for you that they could join you. It would be a treat for everyone.

How is the rebuilding of your home going along, Robert? Say hello to Caroll. We often think of you.

Good point, but too late for me to do anything about it now. Ooops!
