Spence, if it were me, I would absolutely cancel her reservation. That would show her you have balls and she's going to break your pebnis anyway. The resort is crazy to let her check in at this point.

    • Since she is so vile, I would really be afraid that she will trash the condo in revenge.

        I'm with Glitter.

I hope you have an 'out' in your contract, use it.

If you go ahead with this reservation and end up with a broken pebnis you will get no sympathy from me.

        • Lol

I feel very junior high about this, but I can't stop giggling about "pebnis".

          • So confused

I'm still giggling about pebnis, but I'm also very confused. What changed to cause her to write the resort? Is she outraged over something real, or something fabricated?

            • Holy Cow Spence.

You cannot let this lunatic check in under your responsibility.

I think Sydney is right, she's demon possessed.

She's already telling you you're gonna be sorry. Just give her her money back and get rid of her. Sheessshh she's truly the tenant from hell.

I have an aunt who, although she never gets to this lady's heights (depths?), periodically goes off on someone and it can escalate weirdly to writing to people not directly involved. What sets it off -- when we can figure it out! -- is usually something pretty minor but if it were true (isn't always), you can kind of see her point. But then she "goes looking" for more things to get upset about and her sources of outrage get more and more arcane -- the "can't win for losin'" thing where, whatever you do, she'll find a way to see it as an attack.

In the family she mostly does this kind of thing only in letters; I've never seen her lose it this way in person, but we all figure she must with non-family members, since we assume this is why she can't hold down a job/ hang onto friends long-term. This past year or so my mom has seen her blow this way on her son, too. We all just step back and let her go. She never apologizes, but at some point she'll run across the person she blew up at and will talk to them as if nothing happened, and apparently all is forgiven without her ever saying so.

Essentially, my aunt was abused as a kid and has never processed it, so she's got some of the classic problems related to that -- expecting to be constantly betrayed; distrustful of kind people while way too likely to trust abusers, etc.. All of which means she's had kind of a rough life, but now she deals with that hate and pain by spewing it all over some random target periodically. She is completely unable to recognize that she has picked up some of the beliefs and habits of her abuser and that she causes a lot of her own problems. I'm picking up much the same vibe here, cranked up about five notches.

Ditto. And should I ever decide to rent out a TS (highly unlikely), I'm now going to be sure there's an escape clause in there, which I had not considered before. Although as someone looking for a rental, that same escape clause would unnerve me. I dunno what you can do other than contacting the resort.

                • Who knows if this is even a 'she,' if the person really has cancer, etc.
I suspected earlier on it was a setup to use the unit then come back and file a complaint with PayPal.

Sorry this happened. Every renter's nightmare.

                    • So what's the latest?

IIRC, we are past check-in date for this lovely lady's island vacation. Any news?

                      • Wow, I hardly ever cross over here, but Emmy told me about this thread. What a nightmare.

If it were a guy and not a woman, there might not be such a need to break Spence's pebnis. Just a thought.

Strange, though, the change in tone and spelling/grammar, etc. Maybe he/she/it has multiple personalities???
