Brought my daughter and friends in for one night. Spent all day walking and after also doing two college tours this week, I cannot wait to get into the room and do some serious relaxing. The one friend is in mid 20's so they will be heading out exploring for a bit while I relax.

Pat (grayfal), they have made good use of your sticky on the NY forum, so thank you very much.

My daughter's friends were shocked by the prices at TGIF's for lunch, so they are just blown away by this place so far and we have not even gotten into our room yet. I overheard one talking to their mom and making a comment that we must be loaded .

Glad I was able to do this for them.

LOVE THAT! And yes, it is so neat to be able to do things, especially for others, that would not have been possible otherwise.

      Have a GREAT time.

The good: I had upgraded our RCI points membership to a platinum account a few weeks back and apparantly our studio unit was upgraded to a one bedroom, so we were all pretty blown away...loved those robes...

The bad: Between the hours of 2:30 am and 4:30 am we were kept awake by frequent announcements to "Not panic, ignore the smell of smoke, stay in our rooms, open the windows to combat smell of smoke, call front desk if any questions, don't use elevators, etc". The announcements came pretty frequently between 2:30 and 3. Then at 3:30 the fire alarms started going off, so we waited for the do not panic announcement, and we waited, and we waited. No announcement. So, with the smell of smoke stronger, we gathered our valuables ie medicines, and hoofed it down 17 flights, to find a packed lobby and staff telling us not to worry. I had to laugh because so many people had all of their luggage with them. Like, OK, building may be on fire, let's pack first.....

The good: after a 30 minute wait in the lobby we were able to take the elevator back to the 17th floor instead of having to walk it. The girls thought it a great joke and we all had a laugh over it.

The bad: I was already angry at myself for wasting a points exchange at a 1 in 4 resort for a 1 night stay, so I was prepared to complain to RCI in hopes of being allowed a 2nd exchange without waiting 4 years. Wasn't too upset, but I figured what the heck, if it enabled us to not have to wait

The good: The RCI rep told me that there is no 1 in 4 rules for points exchanges.....

So overall a really nice trip with the girls that didn't cost an arm and a leg.

Wow, you are a good sport - if I had one night and had to endure false alarms and 17 flights of stairs, I would not be pleased~!

It is nice to hear that the Plat RCI benefit paid off - I am glad you enjoyed your stay despite the inconvenience.
