I get these all the time when I put something out on craigslist that has somewhat of a value. It's a shame....alot of people fall for it.

Cash the check at whatever bank it is drawn from.

It is on Citibank and there are no locations in Minneapolis area. Other than that, I like the idea, just can't do it.

          There are ATMs nearby.

I'm wondering if they choose their check stock based on what bank is not in your area. In ten years of rentals, I've only gotten one of those and it was on a Wells Fargo check when there were no Wells Fargo banks in my area. he emailed when he didn't hear from me ... When I told him that I knew he was in a hurry and I had the check in my pocket to go to the bank, but my wife washed my shirt, could he please send another check by FedEx again ... I never heard from him again.

Too bad, it would be interesting to see if you were able to get the cash for it! No doubt the teller would come back and say "sorry, there is insufficient funds".

The company name, address, etc on the check seem to be attached to a real company. I have thought about faxing a copy of the check to them to ask what they may know about it. May be a surprise to them to see that check.
