My wife took her mother and our grandkids to the cemetary to deliver flowers today. The grandkids thought it was odd that their great grandma has a head stone with her name on it all ready in the ground with her birth date carved into it.

I agree with your kids! My mom has her name and birth date on the headstone that is combined with my dad. I have always thought this was weird.

I do appreciate those who have served and are serving our country. Those who lose their life while in service have a special place in my heart, because my biological father died when he was only 26 as a result of a crash in a plane with mechanical issues while training to be an Air Force pilot.

My father died young in 1963 during Viet Nam. He is burried at Ft Bliss. So like you I have an appreciation of those that have served our country, especially those that died in service.
