I have ridden that ride. It affected my senses for the next day, but it is still kinder than Mission Space.

It sort of takes the fun from it.

This is pretty much standard in the industry. The main ride operator has to be at least 21. All they do is make sure everybody is strapped in properly and push a button to allow the ride to leave the station. Most rides have sensors that won't allow it to leave the station if all the seats aren't properly strapped in, and it won't allow the ride to leave the station if any of the sensors on the ride are malfunctioning, or if the train before the one in the station hasn't cleared the safety point yet. At Cedar Point, they check the restraints twice before the ride can start.

If anything goes wrong, the operators can't do anything except call somebody else to come fix the ride. Even if it's as simple as hitting a reset button.

We were in the next batch of people to ride Skyhawk at Cedar Point when a seat restraint sensor malfunctioned. The restraint in that seat was fine, but they couldn't get a green light, so the ride wouldn't operate. We watched as maintenance came out and coerced the seat sensor to work properly. When they were done, they gave the operators the ok to test the ride and then run it again.

This is a good topic but I'm more concerned about pedaphiles, folks who don't use seatbelts, macho moto-angels without helmets, Iran, Iraq and N. Korea, than I am about amusement park rides.

About amusement parks. Health Nazis will also not allow you to eat the corndogs, cotton candy, sugar packed snowcones, etc. etc. Just recently had nearly a thousand bikes ride through town on a Ronald McDonald ride. By my estimation, less than 10% were wearing helmets...not even the goofy looking WWI or WWII ones. At least their families can stay at the Ronald McDonald House when the potentially end up in a vegative state.

If we should , as NO-ONE suggested ban amusement parks or at least regulate them even more, than what shall we do with ATV's, Snowmobiles, motorcylces, drugs, booze and the ever-so-dangerous/roll-over prone SUV's?

Are you also ready to give up you cell phone while driving? Studies are starting to show you are a .08 or worse when talking on the cellie. I've had cell phones since 1989 and I believe the research is correct....that's from my own early experience.
