  • Need to find a chunk of aluminum plate

I need to locate a piece of aluminum plate about 0.25" thick.

We just bought a stove with a radiant cooktop. The instructions say not to use a pan with a concave bottom. We have a double burner griddle that has a grease catcher that goes around the edge of the griddle. This raises the center of the pan so that it does not touch the surgface.

I'm thinking that a plate the size of the two burners would increase the heat transfer from the surface of the stove and keep the smooth cooktop surface from overheating.

Where would I find such a thing and how much would it cost. I don't think that the alloy is important. It would also be nice to hard anodize it.

I don't know where to buy a piece of aluminum to custom fit your griddle but it may be easier and cheaper to buy a new griddle that is flat on the bottom.

Go to a Machine shop. Most of them have the material laying around.

It seems to me that a 1/4-inch chunk of aluminum may take a lot of energy to heat up as well... If you really need one, loot up a metal supply in your yellow pages as I have bought metal of all sizes from places around my home...

Still, I am not sure this is what you really want to do IMHO
