Yes, this forum is open and very fair as we can express our feelings. Stick around and you will see for yourself. This remark is for the OP (Bulldog Drummond) of this thread.

We have a choice here to ignore the posters or topics we do not like. What else can you ask for?

      Hi All

I just wonder how RCI OR DAE or any over exchange company could go to every resort on a Friday Or any other day that is check in day and look over each unit .
The resort that has everone on the go about is in Australia and I have stayed there and it is one of the resorts we would not go back to it was very run down this was 5 years ago and could have got it self into gear now .

The person that complained first should have worded the complant to the management of the resort not DAE if you give her time to come back from holidays I have no dought they will try and get things the right way in time

We all stay at resorts that do not come up to standard some time and it is management that we go off about too this one got an ear full too and was told about there dirty unit and it should come up to standard of others .

WE have use DAE for exchanges and have found them to be ok in all regards to exchange

Emmy . . . We have recently been to Europe and Canada. Our friends and acquaintances there do NOT hate the USA. They love us as people. They do think our current government and administration is worthy of disrespect. As a people, it is difficult to "stick together" when a majority of loyal Americans find that the administration has a disapproval rating in the 30% range, and that citizens of other countries would undoubtedly give it an even lower rating.

We found that people in Spain, Germany, Italy and Canada were as friendly to us as Americans as we could have imagined. If a conversation turned toward our administration's foreign policy, the reverse was quite amazing.
They don't understand how, if the overwhelming majority of the American people now oppose the current administration's war in Iraq and other foreign policy, it continues to be our image around the world.

I don't know the answer to that question, but it did not deter us from continuing to personally make great friends abroad and continue some wonderful long-term relationships.

Conclusion: The subject of "hate" is not us, the typical American citizen. It is our current government.

        Respectfully yours,

This very thread shows how free and open this site is. Members are allowed to discuss the actions of moderators and staff, which is refreshing. If this were a certain other timeshare site, the delete key would have been deployed as soon as the thread was spotted and the OP would have gotten a nasty gram about how you just cannot question the actions of high and mighty moderators, and perhaps a threat of banning if he ever did it again. At least here moderators and staff recognise we are human and discussion of our actions is proper and can help improve the site.

As to DAE, I thought it VERY odd that this poster made the remarks he did about DAE's inventory for an exchange in Australia. That is an area of DAE's strength, where it frequently has better availibiliity than RCI or II. That really makes me wonder if he has any knowledge about what he is talking about or just has some bone to pick with DAE, or perhaps has some connection with one of their competitors.

            Off Topic kinda

Since we're still around the 4th of July celebrating as we talk about Free speech and such, a few of my favorite quotes by Thomas Paine (involved in the American,French and Polish revolutions):

"The world is my country, all mankind are my brethern, and to do good is my religion"

" He that would make his own liberty secure, must guard even his enemy from oppression, for if he violates this duty, he establishes a precedent that will reach to himself"

"When we are planning for posterity, we ought to remember that virtue is not hereditary"

" It is error only, not truth, that shrinks from inquiry"

"It is the duty of every patriot to protect his country from his government"

Just to clarify, at the time of starting the original thread on the Ask DAE website, we had just returned from the resort after of course having brought the issue very much to the resort management's attention. The purpose of the post was to ask DAE whether we had in fact lost our exchange altogether or whether the insurance we bought could be extended to such a circumstance as ours. It was during the holidays while the office was closed, which we fully understood and did not hold that against DAE, and I also felt I needed to get it off my chest as I was still in the throws of my woes and felt compelled to post on this site.

Now, at no time did I mean to imply that DAE was in anyway responsible for the condition of the resort. I was in a very distressed and uncomfortable state so maybe came across as blaming the incident on DAE even though that was not my intention. This resort actually exchanges with all the exchange companies that operate in Australia so this could have happened regardless of the company we used.

I have for the record changed the heading of the thread to name the resort as to not appear to blame DAE for our experience.

I feel it very unfortunate that Bulldog Drummond chose to resurrect a resolved thread with an unsubstantiated attack on DAE that really had nothing to do with what happened to us. If you would read the thread fully Bulldog, you will see that DAE did in fact come through for us and refunded our exchange fee and our week. We were grateful for their goodwill gesture and have banked another of our Gold Crown weeks with them and are very happy members. In fact we just used the refunded week to book my sister and family into a resort down in Victoria where we also have a confirmed exchange through RCI. So all's well that ends well as we are looking forward to a family reunion in December and the misery of last year has thankfully faded from my memory.

If you have something you want to discuss regarding any exchange company, a quick look around the site will show that we are all for open discussion. You are free to start a discussion and give us your experiences in this forum or another appropriate forum, not the Ask DAE forum, unless you have something you want them to address.

Just don't expect to have everyone accepting your comments at face value without proof. That's just the way it goes, whether on an internet website or face to face.

              Syd

Bulldog, I would like to echo the invitation to stick around this site, visit often and post when you have something to contribute. I think you will find this site refreshingly tolerant. Threads are not removed, closed or edited without careful consideration first. There are forums here to express almost everything. You do, however, have to place your posts in the appropriate forums. I think you will find this site a valuable resource.

Check with the Korean War here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korean_War

We never finished it and look what is happening now with North Korean. No one wants a War. But your statement "majority of the American people now oppose the current administration's war in Iraq and other foreign policy, it continues to be our image around the world." could have been written in 1953 about the Korean War.

See this: "American action was taken for a number of reasons. Truman, a Democratic president, was under severe domestic pressure for being too soft on communism (Republican senator Joseph McCarthy stated that the State Department was "infested" with Communists). Especially vocal were those who accused the Democrats of having "lost" China. The intervention was also an important implementation of the new Truman Doctrine, which advocated the opposition of communism everywhere it tried to expand. The lessons of Munich in 1938 also influenced the American decision, believing that appeasing communism would only encourage further expansion."

And this: "Instead of pressing for a congressional declaration of war, which he regarded as too alarmist and time-consuming when time was of the essence, Truman went to the UN for approval. Thanks to a temporary Soviet absence from the Security Council — the Soviets were boycotting the Security Council to protest the exclusion of People's Republic of China (PRC) from the UN — there was no veto by Stalin. The (Nationalist-controlled) Republic of China government held the Chinese seat. Without the Soviet and Chinese veto and with only Yugoslavia abstaining, the UN voted to aid South Korea on June 27. U.S. forces were eventually joined during the conflict by troops from 15 other UN members: Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, France, South Africa, Turkey, Thailand, Greece, the Netherlands, Ethiopia, Colombia, the Philippines, Belgium, and Luxembourg. Although American opinion was solidly behind the venture, Truman would later take harsh criticism for not obtaining a declaration of war from Congress before sending troops. Thus, "Truman's War" was said by some to have violated the spirit, if not the letter, of the United States Constitution."

Change Bush for Truman, change the Iraq War for the Korean War. All of this could have been written today. We should learn from History. But we never do. The problem is most present and many past High School students have no idea what the Korean War (Conflict) was all about.

Please note that we had a Democratic President as the time.

                  Respectfully yours,

                  Walt

I would just like to repeat what others have said to Bulldog. Whether or not you have a background working in the timeshare industry or not, you are more than welcome to stick around on the site and contribute. If you do have a background in the t/s industry you have the potential to provide a valuable insight from that side of the fence as well. Any detail you are able to provide about your t/s background would be helpful, although I think we all appreciate that anybody currently active in the industry may have to be careful about being identified.
All I would suggest is that you start by putting a toe in the water and not by diving headlong into murky water that may have rocks beneath the surface. If you are going to make statements about the running or management of any organisation you must be prepared to substantiate those statements.
This site is not here to protect the timeshare industry in general or timeshare exchange companies in particular. Neither is it Crimeshare where people are allowed / encouraged to make libellous statements about anything and everything to do with timeshare.

In my long experience on UseNet (the internet's newsgroup community), this and the OP's other postings are a classic example of hit and run trolling, designed soley to stir up the emotions of the community/site/forum.

Such activity is a side-effect of the freedoms and annonymity which the internet offers.

My prognostication is that the OP will not be back...

                        I agree, Pat.

It is certainly too bad that the OP who made claims that he had relevant information is now hiding in the doghouse, so to speak...his information (so he claimed) could well be valued here.

It is a shame...here is a site that encourages dialogue, and he claims he wants it, yet he is suddenly silent....perhaps Bulldog has been muzzled? or has he been taken to a kennel (perhaps for a doggie spa treatment)...if so, perhaps he will come back with a refreshed feeling and start again.

He took the time to write, why not come back?

Many of us would love to hear from him... too bad he is all "penned up." or should I say "penned out".
Life is short, live it with this awareness.

                                Walt . . .

I appreciate the history comments, and, though they may not be exactly parallel to today, there are some obvious similarities. I don't think Truman was as universally criticized by countries abroad as is the case today with the current administration. And Truman was able to get UN sanctions and commitments, which we have not in Iraq.

But my main point to Emmy was that I felt that people in other countries do not hate "us", meaning the American people. The people and friends abroad that we have encountered reserve their dislike for our foreign policy, which the majority of the American people also disapprove of, according to every poll I have seen.

I have no idea whether such sentiment existed during the Korean War, or if there were even such things as polls 50+ years ago to verify that. (I was just a toddler then, so I can only remember seeing maps in the paper showing how the front lines changed as the war progressed.)

I am just personally upbeat about the fact that we can come home from a foreign trip after having experienced warmth and friendship, despite our government's disapproval in much of the world's opinion.

Thanks for the Korean War info, Walt . . .
