      Sharon,
I'm sorry for your loss. As several people have said it " brings back memories of our own losses". I think back to my parents passing, the last four years and and sadded again.

I also always dream of them as healthy, and never as they were in the final years.

      Take Care.

So sorry to read this, Sharon.

I think it's good that you and your son are still able to go, and that it didn't happen while you were away.

Every time I leave for a far-away trip, I play out the what-if's in my mind, if that should happen to one of my folks while I'm gone. Each time I log into email while away and not easily reachable by telephone, I feel the apprehension that I might receive notification this way.

Hope you and your son will still enjoy experiencing a new part of our beautiful planet, and treasure your time together.

Sharon, I'm so sorry for your loss. 19 years is a very long time to battle a disease. I hope your vacation is a time to heal and enjoy beautiful memories.

              Sharon,
Please accept my condolences, as well. My daughter's best friend's Dad lost his battle with Parkinson's several years ago. Even before he died we were all involved in the Foundations. There is currently a tulip fundraiser:

I'll remember your dad, as well as our friend, when I place my order. It is wonderful that you and your son will have a chance to be together and remember the happy times.

I want to thank you all for your kind words and notes. They have really helped me. I so appreciate everyone's true understanding of what it is to lose a parent.

Surprisingly, delivering the eulogy at my dad's funeral helped as well. I think a lot of people don't want to do this because it is hard to get up there and get through it, but it was a cathartic experience.

                      Thank you so much again.

                      Sharon

Sharon, I also want to say how sorry I am for the loss of your Dad. My Mom died 18 months ago and my Dad is now failing. The grief is still fresh for me. In your travels may you find places of comfort / may you feel the presence of the Divine in your grief.

                        Hope

                          Sharon,
I am sorry for your loss. Take comfort in knowing that as a teacher your father was a positive influence on many children's lives, as well as your son's, and his memory will flourish. It's a good thing you will be able to spend this time with your son and take a time out for processing your feelings.

                          Your friend,
                          Ken
What I once considered boring, I now consider paradise.

I received this today, and it is so apropriate for your loss of your dad.

It is a long poem entitled, If Tomorrow starts without me, and the last stanza is:

So if tomorrow starts without me,
                            don't think we're far apart,
For every time you think of me,
I'm right here, in your heart

My prayers are with you and your family.
                            hope this info helps,
