Giant oarfish washed ashore today in CA

So the legend of the oarfish starts in Japan. This when this deep water creature is found in regular fishing debts it can be the signal for very good fishing and of course, fish mongers like me love this, but also it can be the signal for big earthquakes.

BTW there was a magnitude 7.1 earthquake in the Philippines on Tuesday

These creatures live in the deepest areas of the ocean and maybe when they travel to quickly to the lesser depths they haven't had enough time to decompress. Some of the fish I catch when bottom fishing have their eyes bulging out from reeling them in off the bottom by the time they get to the boat.

Local biologists said it died of natural causes. Fish get old too.

They are rare but it's not the first one to wash up on the beach.
