  • Avatar? Explain please.

Ok, so I finally found an avatar to include with my user name. I have had some comments and questions about it, all nice. It got me to wondering why people picked the avatar they are using and, in some cases, what the avatar represents or who it is. Well, how about it? Let's hear from you.

    I'll start.

Have you ever watched the old movie called "Christmas Story?" My avatar is the little boy who is the main character in the movie who narrates the story as an adult, Ralphie. Well, in a scene with his father changing a flat tire, Ralphie says the mother of all cuss words and the result is that his mother washes his mouth out with soap. My avatar picture is Ralphie with the bar of soap in his mouth. The actor who played Ralphie is now a 40-50 year old man today.

The avatar is probably apropos because I did look like Ralphie as a kid, blond tow head, often with a bar of soap in my mouth. Although I have to admit that I did not know the mother of all cuss words at his age.

My avatar made me laugh when I found it so I though maybe other people might think it was funny. The other thought might be that even today sometimes I need my mouth washed out with soap.

also see this thread: What does your avatar mean or represent?
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

    “You shouldn't wear that body.”

That's ok Mike, the other thread had kind of died out anyway. Since I didn't respond to the other one I will hear.

I just added an avatar. I have been taking hula lessons at the adult community we moved into 2 years ago. For our 40th anniversary, I learned and danced the "Hawaiian Wedding Song" for my husband, family and friends who came to Hawaii to help celebrate. That's me dancing.
          Is it vacation time yet?

Just added my avatar yesterday. Since Maxine is my favorite, it made sense.

I love all the Avatars listed here, I love Christmas Story & think Ralphie was such a cool kid. I love birds too, and Maxine always makes me smile. I wish I could say I had something real interesting, or a nice story about mine. I just dug into my photos in the computer and grabbed a nice one. This one's Treasure Falls, just outside of Pagosa Springs CO ~ incidently taken on my Birthday last year. One of the best Vacations we've had!!

                  I'll repost mine...

I never really thought of a meaning for mine before the last time this thread came up but it represents my life as a whole... always running full speed ahead. Unfortionately there always seems to be something that gets in the way that should give me a clue that I need to slow down...

My avatar is pretty darned good for me now that I take a second to reflect on it

Oh yea, I ski like I develope websites... Makes my wife nervous but I have never broken any bones yet so I must be a good skiier. I am just an East Coast Ice skiier as I have no idea what to do when the powder piles up.

Powder is a piece of cake compared to eastcoast, better keep those edges knife sharp ice skiing!

My Avatar is a picture of my quarterhorse named Merlot. I had to retire him due to arthritus last year but I go see him every 3 or 4 months. I've either owned, leased or trained horses since I was eleven years old. Currently I'm training a big grey paint named Triton.

On top of a horse is where my head is clearest and my troubles become life-size again.
