  • Question For Guests or New Members

Over the years I have noticed that this site always seems to have a lot of guests visiting, like now:

    Currently Active Users
There are currently 111 users online. 9 members and 102 guests

This is directed at the Guests . . . What is it that you are looking for? If you have a Top Ten list, or even a Top Two or Top Three list of things you would like to know about timeshares, what are they?

Thanks for looking in, by the way, and welcome.

Most of the guests are search engines and spiders, so don't expect many answers. A guest also has to register before they can post.

        Wow! Figured me out!!!

This is a case of me not saying exactly what I wanted to say when I said it.

Feedback from newbies would be nice, too, which is what I figured those who wanted to respond would be.

Regardless, my question remains the same . . . Why are folks looking at this site? What is it the new folks want to know about timesharing?

I am guilty of just looking until I have read something to reply to. I do not always log in but do like to read what is going on.
BTW I just returned from a few days at the Palm Canyon Resort in Palm Springs. The temperature was in the high 80s every day and very nice. The resort was a Diamond acquisition from Pacific Monarch, older and in need of updating but great location near downtown P.S. Nice pool.

                4 members and 81 guests

I'm still curious as to what the "guests" are coming here for, what information about timesharing they are seeking that prompted them to go to a search engine, that brought them here.

There always seems to be a good number of them.

My trip report with "Disneyworld" in the title had an insane number of views within a fairly short time, and still has more than average -- I suspect a fair percentage of those were guests who aren't interested in Timeshares per se, and I also suspect a lot of people end up here for reasons other than timesharing.

That said, I do send a lot of people here from other boards when the issue of timesharing comes up. I suspect most of them are only "intellectually" interested -- meaning they're researching it more out of curiosity than out of a serious intent to buy a TS, because they're generally happy renters. The guys we gifted with an RCI week might get serious, though, but they also might decide renting makes more sense for them once they look into that. But none of them have signed up so far as I know; if they have a question, they ask me rather than signing up here. And, often as not, I then link them to the pertinent thread here.

I'm not a website guru . . . is that sort of volume of people just passing through normal for websites?

Do they have to select to come here, like through a search engine?

I looked at couple other sites, and they both have more guests than members viewing.

Jim, if you go to "quick links" (black navigation bar) and then select "who's online" you will see who is on line. About 1/2 of the guests and sometimes more are designated as spiders (search engines). The rest are either undesignated search engines or people following a link in a search engine that brought them here.

Cool. That's what I had in mind.

                          13 guests were registering.

                            What is Baiduspider?

Baiduspider is Baidu search engine program which is used to visit pages on the internet and build information into Baidu index. This enables users to locate your site when they perform a search.

Bingbot is the name of the crawler used by Bing to crawl or “spider” the web. It is Bingbot's job to find new and updated pages on websites across the Internet.

And of those 13 guests registering, none became members (yet). Most likely they were unmanned programs, but there may have been 1 or 2 who just couldn't handle the registration process or they didn't answer the confirmation email.
