Thought I'd share an article with some fun videos. The footage isn't all from the Great Lakes area, but Snownadoes, Frost Quakes, Ice Shoves, Ice Balls and Snow Rollers all happen here. The video that insists on opening when you hit the page is in BC Canada, though.

There's a recent video on Youtube of a weather reporter in Chicago freaking out over hearing thunder during a snow storm, which surprised me, because we get that phenomenon every winter here and you'd think a weather guy would know it's not that unusual.
If you're not into videos of weird weather, this link has some nice pictures of Lake Superior Snow Caves:

The ice caves are cool, but I really like the contrast of the sheets of white ice cascading over the red rocks, as in the last shot on this page:

And my favorite lighthouse in winter -- I like the twisted "beard" it has in this one:

The cable "handrails" for the upper catwalk snapped, making those lovely curved lines. I think some of the interesting ice patterns by the lighthouse are from a painter's scaffolding the storm took out:

And the pic that went viral this year (no idea why -- it's a nice pic but not in my top ten, plus this pic is from 2013; there's more ice on it this year):
