Actually, it is a multi-level company.

Is that right?RCI Member Since 24-Aug-1989/150-plus Exchanges***THE TIMESHARE GRIM REAPER~~~Exchanging/Searching/SW Florida/MO/AR/IA/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living/Retirement****Sometimes ya just gotta be a dick

Actually on their web-site it appears their office building is only one level. Most mail box drops are.

As I said on another web-site yesterday, I was involved in direct sales of a buying service for ten years and Jenny and I were top distributors in a HUGE MLM company in the 80's. I have had enough of that that it will be a cold day in Hell before anyone is able te recruit me into a freind-alienating scam scheme.
But, the feature of TN that is attractive is a discount program with various merchants. Two really apply to us, Home Depot and Amish Mills Log Homes.
Amish Mills Log Home is from our neck of the woods, and one of the high mucky mucks in T/N lives right down the road. In the last two weeks I just discovered that our best friends and our sister-in-law are distributors (Jenny's brother does not claim to be involved and won't talk about his wife signing up).
It really made me cringe, and turned me off completely, when our friends started talking about it down on the dock a couple weekends ago. They were talking mostly about the savings, how it would help us building a new house, but they had to toss in the crap about how I knew so many people and we could really amke a lot of money with it.
Jenny actually came up to the house with them and they got on the computer looking at stuff. I did not even try to hide my contempt, because the thought of another deal conjured up some periods in my life I'd just as soon leave where they are.
But, anyway, I emailed the high mucky muck and he called yesterday. Yup, he's put up three of the log homes, and we went to look at one of them. Of course, he slipped in how much he's made and how it is the best thing he ever did! Sorry, BUD, been there done that.
The log home mighty fine and we can see one on our new lakefront lot.
So, I'm just doing my due diligence, trying to find a reason not to pursue this further.RCI Member Since 24-Aug-1989/150-plus Exchanges***THE TIMESHARE GRIM REAPER~~~Exchanging/Searching/SW Florida/MO/AR/IA/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living/Retirement****Sometimes ya just gotta be a dick

JLB,
Sorry I did not mean to offend you. I was inappropriately trying to make light of your question.
My professional observation has been that if one is not at the first or second level of a MLM company, it is very difficult to make money. I have been involved in the aftermath of MLM companies and seen the destruction of people's lives and money.
The concept of MLM can be good, but if you are in the 4th or 5th level, it looks to be very difficult.
Again, please accept my apologies.

No one in this thread has offended me.
What does offend me is pressure being put on a 20-year friendship. These are good enough friends that we are sharing timeshare vacations together with.
They are good people, would do anything for us, and have. Jenny encouraged them. Now that they know that our interest is limited to the products/service the company offers, I doubt that the recruiting will continue.
If they can help us build a house and save money doing it, I'll gladly pay them a portion of their TN fee. That is not a new concept, since we share a Sam's Club membership.
If people cannot talk about the product or service they represent, without having to talk about the business opportunity, then I don't listen to the product or service spiel.RCI Member Since 24-Aug-1989/150-plus Exchanges***THE TIMESHARE GRIM REAPER~~~Exchanging/Searching/SW Florida/MO/AR/IA/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living/Retirement****Sometimes ya just gotta be a dick

I had made a post this spring about Team National with little or no responses. I went to a "meeting" and from what I saw. You get 2 people under you and then continue to build people by 2 under them etc..... The catch is that in order to make the $$$$ you have to give presentations.... Yes you can join to take advantage of the savings, but for us it was not worth it since we have use of the military savings. Then again I like to shop for best pricing and that is not always the members of such a group. There was suppose to be a magazine article coming out on TN in June? such as Time, or Newsweek. I have not seen it, but that was a statement made at the meeting. Also I "think" I remember something about it being or becoming a NASDAQ or NY stock company - memory is fuzzy on this. There was lots of excitement at the meeting as there always is at such.

What I'm still trying to find out is more about the discounts/rebates/whatever. Not even reps can tell me that, or show me where it is on their own website.
As far as the company itself, and the marketing plan, this same thread on another forum produced a link to www.scam.com, where there are forum discussions just like here.
In a thread on TN, there were an equal number of proponents, all appearing to be IMDs benefiting from the marketing plan, and opponents, all appearing to be either people who were involved in the marketing plan and did not do well, or people who have a bias against all MLM.
The logic employed by both sides in that thread was just as faulty as the logic employed on most Internet forums where people are trying to get others to see things the same as them, as if a place in heaven is saved for those who can persuade the most people to be and think like them.
The end result of that thread is that I did not have any more information or feel any differently about TN than before I read it.
I called Amish Mill Log Homes twice today and got voice mail both times. I am always jacked sideways by that.RCI Member Since 24-Aug-1989/150-plus Exchanges***THE TIMESHARE GRIM REAPER~~~Exchanging/Searching/SW Florida/MO/AR/IA/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living/Retirement****Sometimes ya just gotta be a dick

I have seen a copy of some of the discounts, but trashed it because they we so small......5% and such...... A person that is already a member should know have this information, if not then that would be another discussion point for you. I would not join anything that I could not see everything, including the discounts, up front. I am sure that you are the same way too.

I see I forgot to mention that the owner of Amish Mill Log Homes called me last night. They are building an office (log home style) near here and we are going to get together the next time he is in town.
We went and looked at them again today, and talked to the people who live in the one next to it. They love it.RCI Member Since 24-Aug-1989/150-plus Exchanges***THE TIMESHARE GRIM REAPER~~~Exchanging/Searching/SW Florida/MO/AR/IA/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living/Retirement****Sometimes ya just gotta be a dick
