Long ago I stopped paying attention to the main site, so I mostly hang out at wine.woot. And nothing has shown up there yet to particularly tempt me yet. I had some interest in the Wellington Rousanne. I've enjoyed other vintages of the offering, but I've got two cases of comparable quality mixed whites on the way, which cost significantly less than the Rousanne.

I don't understand why I used to be able to get shipments of wine, but now I can't. I can still get wine from wineries, so why can't I get wine from woot? Someday I will need to write to them and see if they can explain it.

The laws regarding shipments from wineries to different states change all the time. In NJ, I can get anything from WTSO, I think because their distribution center is in NJ. But I can't buy anything with alcohol from Wine.Woot.

Here's an overview of the situation. It's annoyingly state-by-state.

BTW, I'm looking for those California apricots...

...and for an mp3 player that isn't an iPod. I could kick myself for not buying a Zune from Woot, back in the days when they had Zunes every other day.

The situation with wine.woot is complicated by the fact that they are a third-party shipper. Unlike the winery or sites like WTSO, they do not own the wine that they are selling or shipping. Instead they are acting as a marketer and distributor. That puts them in a different legal situation in many states. In many states the liquor distributors have been able to keep a stranglehold on the distribution business.

There's a thread with more detail in Community Forums area at wine.woot.
