Jayne Meadows, wife of Steve Allen, died at her home in Encino, Calif., Sunday evening due to natural causes. She was 95. She was the sister of Audrey who was in the Honeymooners. Meadows' career in the spotlight spanned nearly seven decades and ranged from plays to Emmy-nominated television shows and even films alongside the likes of Katharine Hepburn.
She also toured the country in a one-woman show dubbed Powerful Women in History for seven years, as well as appeared as a longtime panelist on CBS' I've Got a Secret.
Vern Gagne was a pro wrestler in Minneapolis. He was a wrestler, announcer, promoter and owner of the American Wrestling Association in Minneapolis. Gagne was the AMA Heavyweight Champion 16 times, and held the world record for most combined days as a world champion. He’s one of just six men inducted into all four wrestling halls of fame. Vern had a tough time in later years, lived in a care home with alzheimer's. I remember a new story where he got into a fight with another resident. I remember Vern well from my younger days, pro wrestling was entertaining back then.
