  • What are you doing for Thanksgiving?

    What's everyone doing for Thanksgiving?

I have family coming from the Dominican Republic to spend Thanksgiving with me.
I know that secretly they are really coming for the Black Friday Sales but that's okay.
They can brave the chaos by themselves.

Going to do a pre-Thanksgiving party with the family the Sunday before so that we don't
interfere with all the extended family commitments. This arrangement has worked out
nicely in the past. Of course like many families we have a little drama going on so we
shall see if everyone plays nice. :roll eyes:

My Auntie is going to be 90 in February and her memory is slipping fast so thought it
would be a nice gift to her and also to the family to spend one last Thanksgiving with
her before she's not the same anymore. Scary how quickly someone can go downhill
after breaking a hip. But we've had an awesome for me, 50 years with her. She's my
favorite Auntie and like a second Mom to me.
You know how great Aunties can be. :big grin:

    So what's your Thanksgiving plans?

I want to have a turkey dinner at someone else's house. A house with a big screen tv would be nice. Then afterwards, I want to pack and head to Hawaii to go fishing.

Our families are pretty spread out now, so we just get together for Christmas Eve/Christmas. This Thanksgiving we'll head to Panama City Beach for a week of R&R, and hope the weather cooperates. Would love to spend some time on the water.
We enjoyed a turkey dinner with all the fixings and none of the drama today at church. Time for the nap!

We are always home for Thanksgiving. This year older dd and sil will be with us as well as younger dd. We've also invited another couple to join us. Everyone will contribute something. I'll set the table and stay out of everyone else's way.

Hosting my Mom and in-laws, as usual. My brother is going to his in-laws this year, so we have room. I plan to invite any of the students on my advisory board to join me if they are not going home. We have a few international students that probably do not have plans, and a few others from far enough away that getting home would be difficult.

Beach time always sounds like a great plan.
Hope the weather is warm enough for you.
If Miami is any indication, you should be fine.

              That is so sweet.
I'm sure there are a lot of lonely students this time of year.

They are college students, and therefore adults, so I don't really need anyone's permission! (Well, other than my better half...)

We go to Chinatown for Thanksgiving Day, then host our friends on Friday...serving our free ShopRite turkey, of course!

We never drive on the holiday. Our only son comes down from NH to our home in NH for the one and only time during the year. He wants a turkey breast crock pot style this time and the basic sides, of course. Apple pie. I watch the Thanksgiving Day parade on TV in my PJ's. We just hang out and reconnect as a family. It's quiet, but no stress.

Definity yes for Hawaii and a maybe, leaning to yes, on heading to the sister in laws house for diner. I think both will be fun.

Reminds me of the Christmas Story where the family winds up in a Chinese Restaurant on Christmas. Sounds like fun. I was wondering if your having turkey chow mein ?
