The Echo is on sale for $129.99. I still want it but have no justification for having it. Anyone have one and what do you do with it?

Any other prime deals I should look for?

We have it and like it, but we use it as a novelty only. Alexa plays music, and you can make playlists. I also ask her about the weather every day. She repeats sentences if asked, which the grandchildren find hysterical. She also tells them jokes and plays rock, paper, scissors. I know some people program it to control their home lights and alarm systems. There is a large thread on TUG about how people use their Echo.

I bought it. It will be interesting to have it at home for music and playing with it.
I also bought an LED grow light for my plants. I am getting into carnivorous plants (venus fly trap, sundew, pitcher plants, etc) and they like light. Plus, my orchids are happy with the right light.

And I keep watching Amazon to see what else comes on sale.

Plus, Woot is kind of participating with a mini wootoff and lots of bags of crap.

I have the echo and the dot upstairs. I am sorry I bought the dot now because with this sale I could have just got another echo with the good speaker system which is missing in Dot for just a few bucks more. (the dot was $99)

Anyway, I have come to somewhat depend on it for my shopping lists, weather, horoscope, music, talk radio, movies playing in the area, a joke and daily affirmation, driving route, ordering on Amazon, etc. We also have the Ask My Buddy feature activated which would alert family members should we need assistance ("Help- I've fallen and can't get up" is Alexa- "Ask My Buddy to alert everyone"). I also use it as an alarm clock and for a timer when I am cooking. Have also played some games with her. Like having it which is why we got the Dot for upstairs for convenience.

Also, I ordered a water floating thing for when we are on vacation to use in the lake which the water is cold and I thought it would be a good thing to have to enjoy the water. Anyway, because I ordered it through Alexa, I got $10 off.

After playing with the Echo for a couple days, the DW thought it was ridiculous and she saw no reason for it.

Today, I went home at noon to find Alexa playing some of the DWs type music. When I came back into the room a little later, she was singing to the song playing on the Echo. 'What do you think of it now?' I asked. 'Well, I guess it is alright' she said before she went back to her singing.

Hmmm. Maybe I did okay with it anyway.

Try using it as an alarm clock but do not be close to it so you can shut it off. It will drive you nuts
