  • Naval Aviation Disaster Averted!

Watch this until the very end! I dare all of the Bungee Jumpers, Base Jumpers to sit in the front seat and not know if you are going down the drink, or recovering from this snafu!
The E-2C is one of the few Carrier Based aircraft without ejection seats for the crew. Another deficiency is the lack of inflight refueling. Pilot and Copilot can escape from overhead hatches. The guys in the rear would have to run out of the main door while sinking.
Those of you that know me from way back in the day may be aware that I used to sign off on the very first flight of these marvelous aircraft that protect our fleet. Manufactured by Grumman in Bethpage for final assembly I was the first flight inspector.

    Wow!
Glad they were able to recover that potential disaster.

It looks like a touch and go.

It's why they go to full thrust as soon as they land/catch the cable, for just such a disaster. I had that retractable deck camera in my stateroom on the USS Saratoga for a month of a Mediterranean deployment.
