  • Recent clown activity

Today there was one school district closed and one school that was having clown problems. I guess that the clowns have been a nationwide concern but today it got real for my grandson. There was a reported clown on campus and the school police had students go into active shooter drill for real. I was not aware this was a thing, like a fire drill I guess.

No clowns were found but clown sightings were reported.

After things calmed down my grandsons teacher asked if anyone was afraid. One boy said no as he had his protection on him which turned out to be a semiautomatic handgun. He is 14 and claims his parents were ok with this. The school police took him away.

I was never a clown fan with the exception of the rodeo clown. It seems that dressing up as a clown this Halloween will not be a good idea in my town. So now clowns are bad. Stupid wana be clowns in my town. I was told these clowns are pretending to be like the clown on some movie called IT.

The worst part is that this was very likely a harmless prank. Our collective nationwide fear mongering is now affecting our children.

Active Shooter is Run, Hide, Fight... in that order. Guess that student was willing to fight. Good Grief! We have already had our share ( I work for a school district) How it crossed over to schools, I have no idea. Fear mongering indeed.

This clown thing is getting scary here too.
There was a clown trying to lure kids into a van.
This is not just child's play or a prank.

The kid that brought the handgun to school to protect his classmates from clowns is 12. I am certain his parents did not know what this kid did until they were called to the police station. While it seems innocent enough I have to question why any gun owner would not have their guns locked up but then I remember our kids having access to guns because they knew the combo to the gun safe at 15. Their access was for hunting and protection if need be but they understood that the guns were not to play with or to take out of the safe without adult supervision unless it was an absolute emergency.

I look back and even though things worked out fine regarding guns in our family it was probably not the best idea we ever had. Its odd that when I was in high school it was very common for us to have guns in the cars or trucks to go hunting before and after school and no one was ever shot. My kids had access at 15 but really didn't care to hunt so they were rarely used by our kids. Target practice mostly with clay pigeons is about it.

Anyway, the police did catch two high schoolers who were doing the clown bit. These idiots posted their antics on facebook or somewhere like facebook.

Jim, you are talking to yourself again, but this time you are getting political. Political commentary is acceptable here, but only in the political or private forum.

I don't participate in those because the acute toxicity they produce spills over and affects the open boards. Another forum I'm on regularly just dropped theirs for that reason.

Thus, I didn't know there was one here, despite my presence from day one (or three).

                              Gotta go walk my dog-ter.
