Today I had the cardiologist appointment to go over results of the testing that was done after the heart attack. The damage done to my heart is mainly to the lower interior wall and lower exterior my heart. Im told less than 20% of this area is gone. The testing also shows that everything else is working good and my ejection fraction is above 58% which is good. All in all, the cardiologist said that this heart attack hasn't effected my life span much, if any at all, so that was good to hear. I was told to avoid heavy lifting for now but I was given the all clear to lift weights in repetitions as long as it wasn't raising my blood pressure much.
Since the heart attack I have been on a pescatarian type diet. Kind of like the Mediterranean diet but no dairy or meats. I always exercised but now I just walk fast 3 - 4 times a week for about 3.5 miles a session. Weight lifting is back starting tomorrow. My blood pressure has increased to the upper area of lower normal. I lost maybe 30 pounds. I feel pretty good. Some of my adrenaline junky activities are no longer things I can do but Im finding other thrills that are a bit easier for a younger old guy.

Good news Bill. Don't get carried away with the exercise and try keeping the weight off. I know I would feel better if I lost 30 pounds.

Great news for me anyway !!! I was really bored so when a renter moved of one of our rentals I decided to do some remodeling last month. I gutted the kitchen, living room and bathroom as well as all of the doors. I did have the help of a couple of guys that wanted to rent this place. They helped to lift things occasionally. After 3 weeks I finished in time for them to move in. I was lifting items that were way over the 50 pound restriction but did so after warming up. The hardest thing was the flooring as I tore the kitchen and bathroom floors down to the joists because of water damage and decided to use tile as a finish.
My next project is another rental that I roofed in 1980 after St Hellens blew. Back then I used heavy cedar shingles and even though I think I can get a few more years out of this roof I want to change it. I think I will change the windows and exterior doors too.
I know I have heart damage so I will be taking my time on these projects. Lucky for me is I know many guys that used to work for me that will help me if I need help.
No more snowmobiling is what my wife says. It is suppose to be a cold winter here this year so I hope to head somewhere warm for most of it.
I have to thank the many people that prayed for me or wished me well. I do thank God every day and I am extremely relived to have come out of this in a decent condition. My wife had no doubts off the get go but I certainly did in the first couple of months after the heart attack. I know that the excellent medical care, excellent rehab center and the people in my life, had alot to do with my recovery.
Thanks

I have found out that I apparently had a heart attack at some time, don't know when, and I have heart damage. I am stunned actually. We also found out that my husband had small strokes that have affected his brain, but we don't know when those happened. I don't mind getting old, but my body isn't cooperating.

My friend had an EKG as part of her physical and they told her she had had a heart attack in the past.
When I asked her " you have no idea when?" She said yes, she knows. She felt it one day and just laid down for 2 days until it felt better. It never occurred to her that it might be her heart.
Do you remember anything like that?
Women sometimes present with symptoms of a heart attack that are not "classic".
Small strokes can present in so many ways, and if they happen during sleep you might not even be aware.
Do the docs now want you and your husband to go on meds to prevent further episodes?
Good luck!Jacki

I'm glad to be done with 2017. I only missed one trip in January because of the heart attack. Missed work, but didn't really miss working, pretty much all 2017. Was a bit freaked out to go to the Oregon Coast and Loreto because I felt odd. Turns out it was the tumor in my gallbladder they found late October. About two weeks ago they took the gallbladder and this week end I felt pretty good after a six pack and hanging out with a group of friends. I have my fingers crossed that the gallbladder removal is the end of the story. I find out this week. Since no one called I think that the no news is good news dealio applies.
