  • Mother Nature CRAZY!

Yesterday it was 62 degrees and sunny. I wasn't even wearing any jacket.
Today, we are having a blizzard. The wind is howling. We have over 8 inches of snow already, with another few hours to go.

Plus, I have never heard thunder during a snowstorm until today.

Wow, that is crazzy. I thought our weather was odd a couple of months ago when I was mowing the lawn. Since then we are nearing a record for the length of time with snow on the ground. While I have heard of thunder snow I haven't actually ever heard thunder snow.

We have had snow thunder here in Minnesota in some past years, but this year in Minneapolis, more bare ground than snow covered areas. Trucks going ice fishing are falling through the ice. Dumbazzez. Forecasting 45 degrees here today and above average next 10 days.

Last night it warmed up to 45 with a decent breeze. Everything is melting so I bet we end up with floods. Occasionally, like in 1996, the two bridges over two separate routes that we use to get anywhere are closed because of water over the bridges. In 1996 one of the bridges was damaged and closed for a few months for repair.

Our weather is forecast for 45 - 50 for the next 5 days anyway. Things are going to get muddy.

We keep saying about our weather being crazy here. In and around our Santa Cruz Mountains we get pouring rain then drizzle then rain. Our mountains are coming down around us with 1/2 doz roads closed. Flooding all around us with landslides going through homes, trees coming down on houses, cars, and wires. Dam spillways getting holes in them, dams collapsing, rain and snow not seen in years. Everyone was calling for rain and snow and now we can't wait for the sun to stay out.
I live to vacation and vacation to live.

My Grandmother, Aunt and Uncle, and cousins moved to Santa Paula in the 50's. They ran the Oldsmobile dealership and lived on a ranch adjoining the Santa Cruz River west of town. They were champion team ropers and had their high-$$$ horses corralled along the river. One Fall the fires stripped the hills on the other side of the river and the next Spring the rains created flooding that took all the horses out to the ocean.

Very sad, and the beginning of the end for our family there. They lived big and fell hard, weather being a major factor.

Take the wheels off and put on some anchor straps.

The snow is melting pretty fast at our place. My dog is still in a cast as the snow melts I can see I am going to have a lot of clean up. I guess he couldn't get up the snowy hill so it looks like he used the side yard all winter.
