It's been building up for a couple of months, keeping the lakes (we have three in a row on the White River) too high before the Spring rains. The same thing happened in 2008, 2011, and 2015.

The Corps is receiving kudos for providing such a nice and orderly flood. That's four since 2008, so they are getting good at it.

                    Growing grass.

There is a HUGE area about 100 miles north that is getting hit right now. 3"-5" so far. Two of the three lakes in our series are at flood stage or over, and the third one has a small cushion. I set our docks up as best as I could, up to the tree lines, and now it is what it is. DW says that's what we have insurance for.

                      Come to Florida.
                      It's not raining here.
                      Actually it's been beautiful.
                      Get out of miserable Missouri.
FL's not just for snowbirding ya know.

We have been going to the Eleven Point River in southern MO, for almost 40 years. We had a lot on it and were going to build our retirement home there at one time. DW is from there and is heading there tomorrow for graduation.

At a little town named Thomasville, The Eleven Point is just a trickle. We have family and family of family there, and we have eaten many a catfish dinner at the little restaurant by the stream.

This week The Eleven Point roared through the town 8 feet high on the houses and buildings. Only two houses out of 45 are habitable.

Many Ozarks families are cut off, stuck in their homes, because of bridges that are washed out.

I talked to a guy today in Branson, and he said his house was washed away and he just got moved from a shelter to a motel.

Many, many more stories just like that.

Our docks on Table Rock Lake are water-locked, sitting way out from the banks, and are getting the hell beat out of them by 40 mph winds.

Everyone is at the mercy of what's going on; we're just helpless.
