I went on a 5 day/4 night ride with 11 guys. We are in the Minnesota Maxi-scooter group. My scooter is a 400cc Suzuki Burgman Maxi Scooter.
Normally with this group, the rides are a couple hundred miles in a day and sometimes ride 2 hundred miles, do an overnight and then 2 hundred miles back.
On day 1, the ride went from Hudson Wis to Ironwood Michigan. We got some rain when we went to the restaurant for lunch. Came out to a soaked seat. Time to put on the rain gear. We rode through light rain and some fog.
Day 2 was Ironwood to Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin with a stop in Green Bay to take pictures at Lambeau Field. Coming from Minnesota and Viking land, that just felt wrong to be there.
Day 3 was putzing around Door County, seeing the touristy locations.
Day 4 drive from Sturgeon Bay to Madison, Wi. GPS failed on the second leader's bike, so part of the group went off on a wrong set of directions. Made for an interesting ride. Saw a lot of corn fields.
Day 5-tired and sore, I took the shorter way home from Madison to Minneapolis. I took time to ride through Wis Dells. Always wanted to do that on the bike, but being a solo rider, it was less impressive. I got caught in a rain storm near Eau Claire, so spent some time under a bridge on the interstate. The passing semi trucks kick up a lot of water and road spray, even under the bridge I was getting somewhat wet. When rain stopped, I hit the road again. I got home about 2:40. The other group took the long and winding road, didn't get wet, but got home about 4 hours later. By the time they got home, I had a long sore muscle soaking bath and had eaten dinner. I liked my route better.
For that 5 day trip, I put 1225 miles on my scooter.
I lost the power port on the scooter for my smartphone in the rain on day 1. Circuit shorted out, so couldn't power the phone except when I got to the hotel. Cut down on my viewing the screen for GPS info. Otherwise, bike ran great, was getting 68-69 MPG on some of the roads, but driving 75 MPH on the freeway cut down the mileage to 60 MPG.
Now to schedule a massage.
Oh, one more thing. Of the 11 riders, 1 was younger than I am by 8 days (and I am almost 62), everyone else was older, some into their 70s.
