The Trail of Tears is a big reason why the "5 civilized tribes" as they were known, the ones forcibly moved west to the Indian Territory (now Oklahoma), abrogated their treaties with the United States in 1861, entered into new treaties with the Confederate States, and sent troops to help fight for southern independence, with the principal chief of the Cherokees, Stand Watie, rising to the rank of General in the Confederate army.

          • France has its very own Tea Party movement

It looks like France has a movement much like America's Tea Party, except much more forceful. It is called the yellow vest movement for the symbol they have adopted, the yellow safety vest that all motorists are required to carry in their vehicles. After several weeks of protests, a poll for a major French newspaper found that their goals were supported by 77% of the French people. Even after President Macron has made major concessions to the Yellow Vests, another poll found that 59% of the French people want the protests to continue.

What set them off was Macron placing significant new taxes on fuel as part of his crusade to "fight climate change" that would send gasoline prices over seven dollars a gallon. The middle class and working class erupted in fury, donned their yellow vests and started blocking roads, streets, and fuel depots across France and its territories. Then things turned to burning vehicles and government buildings. Fringe groups from the far left and far right tried to insert their own agendas into the movement. Macron had to call out the army in one French overseas territory, and used military armored cars with EU markings on the streets of Paris. Water cannon, tear gas, and stun grenades were used against the protesters. Four people have been killed, hundreds injured, and hundreds arrested. Well, yes, the French do get a bit more carried away than American Tea Partiers, I guess. Macron's poll numbers have tanked, and according to the polls, he is now the most unpopular president in French history at this point in his presidency.

The yellow vest protests have now spread to Belgium and the Netherlands.

That would be the fed by raising interest rates at a very foolish time. Some say it is a politically motivated move by the fed, but IMHO it is just one of the dumb things they often do. Raising interest rates is a time proven way of throwing a wet blanket on the economy.
