      And the beat goes on....

What surprises me is that so much music from the 60's and 70's is still around in one form or another. I don't really remember hearing a lot of music from the 20's and 30's during the 60's and 70's except as background for cartoons, movies, etc. and the recording of "Brother Can You Spare a Dime" by Spanky and Our Gang.

For instance, while grocery shopping last week, I heard "The Letter" by the Boxtops. On Friday night, I went to the football game and the high school band played Beatles music. I have a teenage son who seemed surprised to learn that I liked Jimi Hendrix's music and that I not only have heard of Led Zeppelin, but had their albums on vinyl.

Bobbie Vinton was one of my favorites and still is. I listen to him on my little DJ Ditty (a compact ipod by Dell) when I walk. I love his music. The only one I kinda make fun of is, ♬ ♬ "I'm Loney, so lonely, I got nobody to call my own......"♬ ♬ The rest are great. He was a little ahead of my time. The Monkees were second only to The Beatles for me. I loved Davey Jones. I was so jealous of Marcia Brady when she got to meet him.
