  • Connecticut October get-together?

We had a lovely (TUG) get-together (with about 50 people) in Connecticut (Fairfield County...around exit 18 on I-95) last July of 2005. Folks from Boston to New Jersey attended. Would anyone be interested in having another one during foliage season...say, the first week or so in October? I'm sure it will be beautiful at that time given all the rain we are having, which may give our distance drivers more incentive to travel!

I'm posting this over at TUG as well.

Let me know what you think!

First week of Oct unless another Hurricane hits I should be in Nola. Mid week I might be able to make, but is there a chance we can meet a bit closer to NY. Last time it took me about 3 hours with all that traffic.

I'm game if nothing too important comes up. The last meeting was very nice.

When I first read this post, I thought it would be nice to go to the luncheon. I would enjoy meeting more of the people from TS4M's. Then, I read Frank's response.....3 hours.....

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Frank, I think you drove that day by way of New Jersey! I can't remember what happened and where you got stuck...the New Jersey folks made it before you did. Did you take 95? Also, maybe a Sunday is a better day to have it vs. a Saturday, traffic-wise?

We can move it closer to the city, but then the Boston folks are farther. Fairfield County is an hour from midtown Manhattan, an hour from central Long Island (and right near the ferry from Port Jeff), but still about three hours from Boston...I was actually thinking maybe we should go North depending on who responds. However, if it ends up being mostly, Jersey/NYC folks, maybe we can move down to Westchester? That gives Tony a bigger drive though....

What to do, what to do....

              Sharon,

We would love to come if the kids schedules don't interfere. My oldest has baseball on Sundays, we are waiting for school to start to get the football schedule. Would drive to Fairfield County. btw there is a NJ get-together coming up soon but it's a bad day for us.

Sundays are better for me - but not Columbus Day weekend - 10/7-8-9....the next Sunday would be GREAT!
I got to the Throggs Neck Bridge on the way back in under an hour.....came from Cape Cod - it was very easy to find and a nice restaurant.
                Keep us posted....

I had taken 95 but , Don't worry about me. Most of my Sundays are booked with Family so I most likely can not make it.

I would be very interested in agathering in mid-October. The weekend of October 14 or 15. I live in Fairfield County, so I would love to have it around here.

If anyone wanted to come by train I could pick them up at the Stamford Train Station, which has express trains from NYC and is also a stop on most Amtrak runs, even Acela.

Drats...we're gonna be in Uncasville, CT to see Keith Urban at the Mohegan Sun festival on Oct. 20th and will be in the area for 3 to 4 days. Guess we'll just miss you all. We went about this time last year (IIRC) and the fall foliage was just about done, at least from Hartford to Mystic, but it sure was beautiful. Looking forward to returning.

Kathleen, what part of the state are you visiting? We'll have a car and will likely fly into BOS as BDL fares are sky-high right now.

                      Take care!

I'm starting to wonder if October is just a bad time for all. I know that my son has football and my younger daughter has soccer on Saturdays...so I'm assuming that everyone is having sports/kids juggling problems if they have kids of this age. I hate to not plan a get-together because we had so much fun at the last one....

Sharon you will never find a day that fits everyone's schedule, so pick a day and a location and go for it. So far I've driven to Providence, Boston and Portsmouth, NH for meetings as well as the one last year in CT. I suppose I could really stretch things and say that I flew to Cancun for 4 meetings as well.

I have no time (or life) on weekends until after Nov 12 but I'd LOVE to meet up with you fellow addicts.

                              Hi Pat,

We're traveling again so I'm way behind in my checking in.

Lucky you on the concert at the Sun. We saw Toby Keith in Hartford in August. Happy Me!

We probably will not make it up tp CT until Nov. Too many irons in the fire. I'm not complaining. Just never enough time to do it all.

I'll try to follow this this thread a bit better. Sorry that we'll miss you.
