I like the willingness of the regulars to help newbies like myself. I see some of the same questions asked over and over again and many of the regulars take their time to answer with good advice. Rarely do you see the reply to a questioin do a search and you will find your answer.

I have been on several message boards over the years and I usally don't post I just lurk. At TS4MS I feel like I am part of the community and I feel comfortable posting.

    Thanks to all,
    Mike

Over my 8 or so years, I have noticed that this is one point that seems to have made the grouchy grouchy (not that there are many of them), the repeated asking of the same questions, only by different people.

Or, the repeated posting of similar information, or a similar train of thought by a particular user.

Some people forget that not everyone has seen those questions and the answers to them before. You have to keep reminding yourself that these sites are designed first to be a source of information to those seeking it, so the courteous thing to do is to answer the same question over and over, with a smile on your keypad, ala Groundhog Day.

      That's a tough order.

When I was in direct sales I made the same group presentation three times a day. The same words with the same flip chart. I often had to force myself to get the words out, by reminding myself that this group had never heard it before, and they deserved the same best effort I gave my first group, years earlier.

I do not intend to prolong the picking at each other's words, which I am also guilty of, in self-defense, but I looked at disboards for the first time just now, and it gave me a chuckle.

First, when you look at their numbers:

        Threads: 1,055,061, Posts: 12,992,228, Members: 107,433

neither of the sites being discussed here are anywhere near that size, something the owner of this site commented on in the second post of the Disboard/Tug thread here on TS4Ms.

Secondly, and what caused the chuckle, is the heading on the disboards forum homepage:

The Internet's Largest and Friendliest Disney Community

So, see, a forum can be both large and friendly. We know that because they tell us that, and if you don't agree, then you are banned!

I am living PROOF of the DISboard banishment.

              why thank you! (blush blush)

I think I'm kinda peachy, too, so getting slammed for profanity or attacks, well, that offended my delicate sensibilities.

I'm ok with being wrong or ill-informed or too inquisitive or creative for my own good, but I am not ok with being kicked to the curb on trumped-up charges!

Wow, BALONEY!? that's .... Ridiculous! (see, I can use restraint!)

Which, of course, makes me want to surf on over and use that B word over there, just to test....

Clearly, it has much to do with Who is saying it as I've seen far more inflammatory posts from a longtime regular who gets away with it. Call me a tattletale, but I always hit the REPORT THIS POST when I see one of his that's way out of line. No chance of saying "we didn't know".

Another reason why people post here, rather than at TUG is because this web site is like a child with a new toy to play with. It's the latest web site
and maybe on the that new cutting edge of the t/s industry.

Why, of course. It was you I had in mind, even if you are a Westgate owner, plus the others listed in the threads about your persona non grata status.

                        Thanks...

I have been a DVC owner for 6 years and a Westgate (Park City) owner for about 2 months, and I am in the process of ROFR review for my Marriott purchase (keeping fingers crossed on that one). I may also join WM, but will wait until after the new year.

Of course I am also considering a fractional destination club like HC or ER, but those puppies are expensive!
