You are being tracked - Urgent information for all Yahoo group members:

If you belong to any yahoo Groups this is important...

Yahoo is now using something called "Web Beacons" to track Yahoo Group users around the net and see what you're doing and where you are going similar to cookies. They are recording every website and every group you visit.

Take a look at their updated privacy statement: http://privacy.yahoo.com/privacy

About half-way down the page, in the section on cookies, you will see a link that says web beacons. Click on the web beacons link which brings you to another page. Find the paragraph entitled "Outside the Yahoo Network."In this section you'll see the link "click here to opt out" . This allows you to "opt-out" of their new method of snooping.

Notice the "Success" message on the top of the next page.

Be careful because on that page there is a "Cancel Opt-out" button that, if clicked, will *undo** the opt-out.

      Now that is alarming...

They track everywhere you go... then they allow their "partners" use that informatin to market to you. They do not (can not) control how some of their partners use this information.

So, they know your e-mail (it's your userid @ yahoo.com) and they know what you do...

The link to "OPT OUT" is off this page:

      http://privacy.yahoo.com/privacy/us/...s/details.html

Note, be careful as they sure are sneaky with that second "Cancel" so they can still sell your information!

Sheesh, I wonder who else is doing the same thing.....

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Just a warning... I am not really sure that this is based on a yahoo account or if it works off your computer itself!

You may need to do this on each computer as every computer has it's own unique cookie!

If you computer has antispyware software that looks at cookies, it will likely detect this.. the problem is you can't block all cookies as the cookie is what lets people in a website like this...

                            Thanks for the heads up.

There is also another place to opt out of the tracking cookies....click on opt-out link.

                            http://docs.yahoo.com/info/privacy/us/ysmt.html

......when you are successful you will get this message....problem is when you use spyware to clean these cookies out it may clear out the opt out cookie and then when you log in again you are automatically opted back in. wow these chumps are sneaky.
