  • Convection Microwave ?s

If you have a convection microwave, can you let me know:

    1. On the convection bake setting, can I put metal/foil in it?

    2. Will I be able to use it for the same things I use a toaster oven for, like cooking frozen kid food (bagel bites, etc.), heating up pizza and leftovers, etc... ? Will the convection bake setting brown things and not make them microwave/rubbery? I'm trying to see if I can lose one countertop appliance, we have a separate toaster...

    or put another way....

    3. Is there anything, other than making toast, that a toaster oven will do better than the convection setting on the microwave?

    Thanks,
    Glitter

We never use the convention setting. It takes way to long to heat up and you hear the fan during and after cooking moving the air around.

      Avery,

My convection oven cooks about 25% faster than my conventional oven. It is great for baking!

      PS

It will probaly use a lot more electricity than your toaster oven, though!

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

        Angela,

Thanks, we will try to do without the TO and see how we do; sounds like it should work!

Frank, I'm not going to use the convection instead of the microwave, just instead of the toaster oven... so we'll see!

        Thanks for the quick replies!

Avery, I hope this isn't what my friend ended up ordering (the one I told you about with the kitchen remodel). Or maybe she "thought" she was ordering a convection microwave and just ened up with a straight convection. Anyway, good luck.

            Glitter,

When we remodeled our home, I bought a convection toaster oven (Hamilton Beach). I like it for baking small items. It cooks about 25% quicker. We bought a straight microwave.

The easiest way I try to explain it, is if your oven can do it so can this. It does cook 25% faster. It is like owning a 2nd oven. You know how your oven does toast (brown on top, white on bottom) so does this. shaggy
