This is the reason I don't buy Halloween Candy, early!

I can usually show a lot of restaint up until Halloween. Then for some reason as I'm sitting there waiting for the kids to come to the door it starts calling my name. First of all it's those darn Snickers that start beating up on me. It gets to the point that as I'm handing out the candy it's "one for you, two for me".

Two weeks ago we were at Costco and I told DH we needed Halloween candy and he said "too early - we'll eat it all". So yesterday he went and bought a couple boxes of Airheads. The kids love em, but we don't. Perfect solution.

We never get into the Halloween candy before Halloween. I'm always worried about not having enough, but in 28 years here we always have some left over. I get between 1 and 27 kids each year, so sometimes we really have lots left over. I'm hoping for a good turnout this year so I don't gain any weight.

No candy for me

I never end up buying candy. My kids are still too little to go out on their own, so I go with them and get it for free. My husband works swing shift so he is sometimes at home, sometimes asleep, and often gone. He refuses to pass it out if he is home, so I have not passed out candy since the kids were old enough to trick or treat.

Course, that still leaves all the candy they collect. My hubby and I have always gone through it with the kids and taken what we want first. We're such babies, I know, but the kids love to share their candy with us. They actually go through it and set aside the kinds we like best. I have such sweet kids, don't ya think?

I have become quite skilled at hiding the Hallowe'en candy. It is more from my DH than anyone else.

This thread is cracking me up!

When our kids were still trick or treating, we let them pick out a few of their favorites (and ours), and the rest got left outside for the Halloween Fairy, who took the rest of the candy and left a gift (pokemon cards, Thomas trains, etc...) in its place...

When they got too old for that, the orthodontist started a Halloween Candy Buy Back, they buy the candy back at $1 per pound, making a donation to a local charity...

This year I am contemplating not letting my kids go out at all, but they are protesting....

Rick took the halloween candy to the firehouse today because I have been eating it. It was supposed to be safe in his locker Then he told me he ate six of the snickers bars today while waiting for dinner to get ready. I guess I am not the only sweettooth around here.

I have gained some weight since the fall started. First, it was the Disney Dining Plan for a whole week, September 23rd-30th. We didn't walk enough in Disney to burn THOSE calories. We have had three cold spells with snow since our return from Disneyworld, which has kept me inside instead of outside on my bike, where I belong.

I have about 200 beads from New Orleans, I want to give those out but my wife says no. I thought it would be something different and maybe a trick part for once instead of the treats. If I run out of candy which has only happened once. I will have Beads as a back up.

Back to the candy topic. I haven't bought any yet. I used to buy only candy I didn't like so I was pretty safe. But then I started liking everything so nothing was safe. So THEN I figured since I was going to eat it no matter what I bought, I may as well buy what I like But I am waiting til at least next week.

I thought you were going to say you are waiting until your taste buds change again right back to the way they used to be. Then you can start back at the beginning with buying the candy you don't like.

We buy a whole bunch to have around the office so this week and next every snacks all the time. It is both a favorite time and the worst time.

That is always the best way to count. It is especially good when splitting a big pile of cold hard cash. The unfortunate part is the only ones that don't get it are the kids. That's no fun like it is with candy. Harmless fun!

I sometimes count that way with my kids. My DD-1 at 6 years old figured it out! Perhaps it was when I was at "one for you, and one, two, three, four, five for me."

What is Lard Bread? Lard, meaning fat??

It is actually called Prosciutto bread or some call it Pepperoni bread or sausage bread. You can Google anyone of these including Lard.

Angela, I had to go there today to get a few loafs. Do not go there on a Sunday as they only make it fresh Monday to Saturday. The hot is $6 a loaf and the other one is $5.50. Get both so you can see which one you like more.

Now would that be a CA merlot, a Chilian or perhaps an Australian.

It's quite a trip for me and I'm not going to do it for a CA merlot and some candy things.

In some places around here, the parents that accompany the kids get a shot. That would have been nice when I took the kids around. All this talk of candy has me tempted to open the bags- do you think I'll keep them closed till Halloween ?
