Going after work. Good thing I checked my voter information card. After years and year of voting at the local elementary school they've moved us to a church near the post office. Much farther away.

You can say that again. I had to change my original response twice, before I could hit 'submit reply'. And, that was just in response to you reminding people to vote, never mind Luanne's comment.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.
BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.
Our precinct was steady but moving fairly well. I was in and out in about 20 minutes, but I took a cheat sheet because of the length of the ballot. The poll workers said it had been that way all morning. I'm glad people are getting out to vote. Go Vote, it is your right!
We're expecting a record turnout. Mid-morning I was #457 at our little precinct.
$40 million was spent on our US Senate race, with the Rep Nat Comm spending $800,000 on TV ads in one day the past week.
We also have a stem cell initiative, a tobacco tax and a minimum wage initiative.
Most of our County candidates are running unopposed.

I voted last week.....absentee ballot....it is so much easier.
"If a Nation expects to be ignorant and free in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be.... If we are to guard against ignorance and remain free, it is the responsibility of every American to be informed." -- Thomas Jefferson to Col. Yancey, 1816
It was a beautiful, warm day here in NJ. The poll workers at my little local polling place said the turnout was good, and that was at 11 in the morning.

A gal in front of me in line didn't get her absentee ballot in the mail so she went to polls to vote instead. She was turned away, told she was supposed to be voting absentee and would have to turn in her absentee ballot if she wanted to vote in person. A little Catch-22 they've got there.
Btw, she was one of three Black women in line ahead of me who didn't get to vote for various reasons; one could not be found in the computer, one had moved a year prior and swears she had registered, and then the gal with no absentee ballot. One had driven 45 min from work to vote and was visibly upset. I have to wonder if they'll even bother in the future, when they had such problems this time around.
