We are celebrating Thanksgiving tomorrow. Rick is on duty at the firehouse today, so it is tomorrow for us. He will be eating turkey at the firehouse, but I will take our son, foster son and stepdad to Golden Corral for early dinner, then it is back home for pie baking for tomorrow. Our oldest son is married and is going to spend the day at his in-laws with his wife. Our daughter and son-in-law are going bowling with his parents in Colorado Springs, then out to dinner. It is very difficult to organize holiday celebrations with many different families as the kids get older.

No Black Friday shopping for me tomorrow, just lots of cooking. Not that I would want to battle the crowds.

I wish Rick didn't have to work at the firehouse today!

It feels like a holiday and I am not with hubby. I will be thankful tomorrow. Today I will feel sorry for myself.

His shift is on every three days, no seniority involved, no special privileges for those who have been firefighters for 31 years.

At least he is not on duty Christmas Eve or Christmas Day this year. He has worked one of the two every year for about ten years in a row. It was not as bad when the kids were home. We would pile in the car and visit the firehouse for hours.
