  • Smack Friday

Smack Friday is underway over at Jellyfish http://www.jellyfish.com/sotd
We are breaking new ground today serving up 12 different Smack Shopping deals, beginning at 6am EST, with a new deal starting every 2 hours. I'm unable to tell you about all of the products you'll see, but I can tell you that you'll be upset if you miss any of them. They are the latest and greatest items available.

I'm really wondering about this site. I don't like that "cash back" thing at all. Will Jellyfish even be around in sixty days? And how much will these electronics cost in sixty days? Less than they do right now, and the deals aren't THAT spectacular. They just did a Sony PSP for about $150 (plus $7 shipping), list is $249 but Amazon has it for $220 and some B&M store has it for $185. To me, maybe saving $30 isn't worth the chance of losing $65.

Back in the heady early days of online shopping, there was a site (can't remember the name) that did a similar cash-back refund thing. Of course they went belly-up and lots of people who thought they had gotten a great deal didn't get their refunds back.

It just seems like a very bad business model. Fun to watch the flurry, but I wouldn't buy there.

I got a great deal on the Nikon L5 camera which sells for about $250. I received the camera in less than a week and it came to about $170 with tax since it was shipped from NY and shipping included.

But, Frank, have you gotten the "cash back" refund yet? Your credit card was charged full retail price, right? And when can you expect the refund? Or did you get it already and they're much faster than they say on the website?
