I wonder if the Discovery model is superior to the red 4100 model? You can get that for $149 before the discount, new, with a one year warranty. I don't need 2 virtual walls. Does anyone have the earlier model?

I'm thinking of asking my DH if he wants me to get one for his folks for Xmas too.

Arlene I find this thing GREAT for pet hairs. I do clean the brushes, dustbin, filter each time I use it. Takes maybe 3 minutes.

Jacki I think the Discover is a newer model. The red doesn't have a homebase so you must remember to charge it. The thought crossed my mind to send Dad my sage 4110 and keep the refurb. That wouldn't be nice though.

The problem with owning a Roomba is it retrains you! My house has a lot less clutter on the floor so the robot can do it's job well. I honestly think my house is cleaner because I'm so entranced with it.

OK now I'm a roomba pusher...

I honestly think my house is cleaner because I'm so entranced with it.

OK now I'm a roomba pusher...

We have also turned into Roomba pushers. We are really sold on ours. Our house is MUCH cleaner than it used to be since the Roomba vacuums the entire house EVERY day. We set it in our bedroom & bathroom every morning, recharge it during midday, then turn it on every afternoon or evening on the rest of the house while we take the dog for a walk.

Here is our furry beast. He is a shedding machine. We have more dog hair in our house with him than we did when we had five dogs. The Roomba does a great job of picking up his hair (which is EVERY where). It does help that we vacuum daily so we don't let it build up. We also have to clean the brushes each time we use it but that's no big deal (and we had to do that on any other vacuum we used).

I think the Roomba we bought from Woot was new, not reconditioned. So far after a month of heavy use it's still working great.

Okay, I got mine today! I'm going to set it up now, but I have a question. I know it can go from hardwood to area rug, but will it choke on the fringe??? I'm wondering if I should fold it under. What do you think?
