  • Roomba Question

I have read all the threads regarding how much everyone loves the Roomba. I'm wondering how simple it is to operate? I am considering purchasing the Roomba Scheduler for my (senior) parents - who are not very "technically" saavy. Is this very straight forward to figure out? They live out of state so I'm not certain how much I could help them. Is there a model that's more simple to operate? They don't have any pets, and no hardwood. Just carpet and linolium and a little tile. They arre very hard to buy for and I know my mom hates to vacume . I thought if it was real user friendly it may make a good gift. Any suggestions?
    Thanks

Roomba could NOT be simpler. I have the Sage 4110 and bought the Discovery 4299 for my Dad. You don't have to program either one of them just push "clean" on the included remote. As long as it cleans approx 800 sq feet at a time it does a great job. They come with a "virtual wall" that you just plug in and point across a doorway if you need to confine the robot for more open floorplans.

Taking care of Roomba is also very simple do.

From what I've seen of the manual on the "scheduler" it looks like programming the old VCRs. Meaning I wouldn't be able to do it. I think that would be overkill for your folks.

      Roomba

      Thanks so much Lawren2!

Are their features on the Sage that your Dad would have like to have had? Actually , I think my folks would be happy with the most basic model as long as it was easy to use and gets the job done!

I just ordered the Discovery for my MIL and FIL. I'm sure they will have no problem. It really is very simple.

DH, who always needs detailed directions on how to anything new, asked me, "How do I work this thing?" I replied, "If you can't figure this one out, then I'm worried about you." Five seconds later, Roomba was cruising the family room.

          bslag,

I wouldn't go with the roomba red as you have to remember to charge that one.

I think Discovery models have more dust bin room than Sage does but I empty mine each time and clean the filters/brushes. Takes all of 5 minutes.

I loved my Romba, but after the dog hair wearing 2 of them out....I gave up. I would not recomend if you have a hairy dog.

Get yourself a Dyson Animal Vacum. That should do the trick.
