It's true, we do kind of have our own language.....We certainly speak faster than most. And, often times, we use our hands. (Or, maybe that's just because I'm Italian) We are impatient with language, the way we are with most things. I can remember wanting to finish the sentences for some people, when I was down south. [/QUOTE]

The quiz pegged me as from the Northeast (although I don't ever say Lawn Guyland). I am impatient with anything slow, speech or otherwise. I get so impatient in the grocery stores down south, the ones with the baggers. I almost hop up and down trying to refrain myself from grabbing the goods and throwing them in the bags!

I am also guilty of diluting coughee with wawduh!

I wonder what a New York accent sounds like when they are speaking Cantonese?
OK, I just had a vision of myself, speaking Cantonese, with my New York accent, and flailing hand movements....... No, I don't think so.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

I pronounce those the same way, but my siblings pronounce them differently.
How would you pronounce them differently? I rhyme both of them with Woot, shoot, etc.

It is possible to do both. I usually just politely say "if you don't mind I'd rather pack myself, I'm very picky..." And back home, before the stores started using those awful carousels that have the cashiers packing while ringing, I would often stand at the end and pack for the people in line ahead of me if they were just standing there and not packing their own groceries...

Well, I have a fairly soft voice when I speak.... until I get mad or impatient. I start off with my Clark Kent mild mannered California accent in any conversation I have. I think it lulls people into believing I am a pushover.

Then, if the pace is going too slowly, off topic, or simpy downright lame, those 14 years in New Jersey and 7 years in Long Island South aka Boca Raton kicks in and my out of control New York flaming temper comes out. It ain't pretty. I love watching their Mr. Bill expression when that personality comes out.

You pack for other people who aren't packing themselves..... Oh, that's too funny. Do you normally get tipped.

                      sorry

What about when you're on an express line, and the person in front of you has more than the appropriate number of items. Then, they are paying by check, and just happily chatting away, like they have all day. Or, they need to get a price checked. I just want to kill them. I try to contain myself, but I'm usually huffing and puffing, at that point.

I lived in New Jersey from 1985 to 1999. I loved it there. I went to Graduate School in New York City. That was a fun two years. But, I didn't have a lot of money, so I didn't have as much fun as I would if I lived there now.

I lived in Woodbridge, Bedminster, Parsippany and Tewksbury.

I loved the seasons, the Dogwoods, the fireflies, the fresh vegetables in the summer, walk out basements and the rolling hills.

We built our house in Tewksbury. We had 3 acres right off the historic horsepath in Tewksbury on Frog Hollow Road and had a creek in our backyard.

The single smartest thing I did there was NOT buying that John Deer riding lawn mover when I went into the store. We had a 200 foot drive way and 1.5acres of lawn.

The first couple of weeks in living in the country were actually terrifying since it was so dark and quiet. Lots of deer, wild turkeys, red foxes and more. Also, I learned how to peacefully co-exist with Field mice in the winter and a modern septic system. We had great well water there.

Bubbler is a trademarked name that refers to a drinking fountain.

                            History of device
The Bubbler was developed in 1888 by the then-small Kohler Water Works (now Kohler Company) in Kohler, Wisconsin, which was already well-known for its faucet production. While Harlan Huckleby is credited with the actual design, it was Kohler that patented it and trademarked the name. The original Bubbler shot water one inch straight into the air, creating a bubbling texture, and the excess water ran back down over the sides of the nozzle. It was years before the bubbler adapted the arc projection, which allowed the drinker to partake more easily.

The Bubbler concept took off and there were many copies. Since the name was trademarked, other companies named their fountains "The Gurgler" and "The Gusher". In the end, the generic term "drinking fountain" became the standard term used in American English for a device that shoots water into the air for purpose of drinking.

The term is still used in several regional dialects of the United States such as in Wisconsin (mostly in the southeast part of the state, centered on Milwaukee, where it is considered part of the local dialect; residents of southeastern Wisconsin often state that the term is used within a "five county radius," however, the term's use has spread throughout the region, beyond five counties in the area) but not in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, states in New England, as well as in Australia. Oregon is also known to be quite familiar with the term, specifically in the Portland region where in the late 1800s Simon Benson installed 20 fountains.

Wow, that wasn't that long ago. And, you went to Graduate School in NY. So, you have a little bit of North Easterner in you, too.

Your country home sounded lovely, field mice, and all. Well OK, maybe not the field mice. part. However, I'm not familiar with Tewksbury. I like the season, too. Although, I can do without winter. I like winter till about February, then, give me warmth.
